Well, this escalated quickly...

Long story short?

Driver in front of me in the left lane lost control of her SUV on a bridge in some ice and slammed into my car, impacting the left-front side and pinning the right side to the guard-rail (concrete). Those are the facts, currently, and here are the pix, no damage report yet. What say ye? Totaled, maybe the structure bent, general consensus? Speed was @40mph

Oh Damn! Sorry to see/hear that! I hope it's not a total loss.

Davey 01-15-2013 12:39 PM

It's totaled.

Nah, probably not... But you might wish it was.

Good luck man.

I hope it is. F owning a 2012 car with major repairs. :(

muzik212 01-15-2013 12:42 PM

Ouch, good luck man. Hope this works out for you, hate to see posts like this!

Red__Zed 01-15-2013 12:43 PM

Would have to see underneath, but unlikely they total for that.

Unless your $999 headlights cracked.

R0bDC 01-15-2013 12:45 PM

Let me have those Nissan brakes? :)

Seriously though sorry to hear that. I hope everything works out for you!

Rui Z 01-15-2013 12:46 PM

Sorry to hear. I hope it is totaled, so that you don't have to drive a structurally damaged car. Good luck!

cheshirecat 01-15-2013 12:47 PM

Not totaled. See if you can pursue the insurance company with a decreased value claim. Good luck.

VDC_OFF 01-15-2013 12:53 PM

thought this was going to be an anchorman quote thread :(

Turned out to be something sad instead. Sorry for the loss

enkei2k 01-15-2013 01:15 PM

From the outside, it doesn't look too bad, but I'm no body mechanic.

Good time to get some aftermarket fenders:

I'll pass. I'm probably going to trade it as soon as the car is right-side up. Something about damaged goods and all. Looks like I am getting out of a Nissan quicker than I had anticipated, and not all how I wanted. :(

wheee! 01-15-2013 01:21 PM

Damage actually appears to be mostly minor/new fender.... should be good as new after the repairs...

The interior seemed shifted to me. Maybe it's just my perception of the rear bar. I was pumped on adrenaline, so who knows?

It does pull VERY VERY hard, and I'm not sure if it's alignment, tire, or something more serious. The front tire did not look to line up with the rear when I looked at it, but meh, could be perception. I need 3 new rims (rash from hell on the lips of them) and a new $1700 body wrap (yes, everything but the roof, rear-hatch, rear-bumper, and doors is wrapped edge to edge, full-panel), and...

...there will be some MONEY going into fixing this.

red6spd 01-15-2013 01:26 PM

Subscribed because I cant see pics on current computer.

wheee! 01-15-2013 01:27 PM

My buddy just had $15000 plus worth of repair work done on his Z after a rear ender took him out... The car is like new he says and no problems.
Keep the faith!

That's what I thought about my windshield repair...but 6 months later now, I do get a bit of a rattle from the base of it even though they used the correct foam strip. Give it time. I'm pretty bent on selling this car, it's been **** luck since I bought it. Destroyed windshield in day 3 of ownership, less than 500 miles on it, and now this. I better sell while it's still salable!

wheee! 01-15-2013 01:46 PM

Your choice! Sorry to hear of your luck...

CDepp 01-15-2013 02:12 PM

I feel ya on selling her. My fiance's C300 had a wrench fall down into the engine while driving (Tire Kingdom thread) and the cost to repair was just under $900. We're looking at the same car/same year/same everything with 30,000+ less miles on it and going to take a $5,000 hit just to know it's never had the damage we reported on ours.

Understandable. Part of my desire to trade is that I've had my fun with the car, it's cool, but I'm on to the next thing. Also, I'm getting used to having a few grand a month that I can save/spend how I want, and think that a few hundred bucks more would just make me smile more. I'm very tempted to hold on and get the 2014 BRZ STi when it comes out, if the interior is as nice as what was shown in the Tokyo show.

kenchan 01-15-2013 04:16 PM

i would get it repaired and trade it in before it shows up on carfax.

Another NA car with even less power?! You looking to downgrade? Pretty sure there is gonna be wayyyy better performing stuff coming out in 2014/15 for around the same price. To each their own I guess.

Not totaled at all, not even close...

New fenders, new paint, new lights, done deal

shadowfax 01-15-2013 04:46 PM

Someone ban this guy for posting gore on the forums!

In all seriousness though, sorry to hear that. :( It doesn't look totaled to me.

Ban who?
Me?

didymus 01-15-2013 04:57 PM

Doubt it's totaled

Sucks!

Strangler 01-15-2013 05:04 PM

Doesn't look like enough damage to be considered as totaled. Your Z's eyeball popped out :(

He meant the OP, as a joke though. Like if someone posted pictures of someone beat up pretty bad in this case is the car that's beat up so he made the joke of putting "gore" in the forums.

Just a joke he made

Lol, ok

Back on topic, OP, I wouldn't sell my car due to the damages, they are REALLY minor and you're not going to bondo anything... You'll be replacing all the parts

Yeah what this guy said. :)

Not totaled. New suspension, new wheels, new body. Check the rails under your car, if doors don't line up, large and unusual gaps on doors. I've seen worse and they repaired. Good luck and thank goodness your still posting.

admin 01-15-2013 05:46 PM

Sorry to hear that. You can "hope" that ins. will total it but I don't think they will(not according to those damages) . I had my 03 350Z rear ended in 08. I bought the car for $16k. The repair ended up costing the ins. Company 12k. Those bastards still refuse to total it :shakes head:. I even had frame damage. Car drive fine for 6 months. Then it just didn't feel how it was before. Waited for 370z and traded in for it. your best bet will be to trade it as soon as it fixed if you don't plan on driving it for long.

Your tie end rods and wheel bearing possibly damaged. Those are the first two things coming to my mind.

What he said :iagree:. If it does show up when you're trading in, file with ins. Company for diminished value claim.

Since I know your posts, I'm going suggest you German made car. The new 4 series coupe or get the upcoming BMW M4 coupe. C7 looks amazing too.

Good luck

i was in an accident with my altima before i sold it
its similar to what you were in but what happened was some douchebag was driving in the emergency lane on the highway then he slammed his car into mine(kind of like mob style) to avoid running over construction workers, i would have changed lanes but i was boxed in(car in front, car behind, and car to the side of me) and i suffered similar damages, driver side fender messed up, side view mirror was gone, alignment and balance were off but there was no major damage and my car wasnt totaled(collision happened at 65)

i dont think insurance will total your vehicle but every case is different
good luck with everything and make sure you save up for the next gen Z lol

JungleZ 01-15-2013 06:11 PM

That sucks! Get another c6 if you can handle garbage interior, way better bang for your buck than the z

shadowfax 01-15-2013 06:19 PM

C7 or :gtfo2: :)

Jasonle 01-15-2013 06:25 PM
