My Key light was on and off for a few months. Finally the steering lock bit the dust and had to get towed. There are some good DIY fixes on here that worked for me. Good luck friends!

Took my nismo to the dealership for the ESCL recall. They installed the newest version. A couple of weeks later the little yellow key light came on during driving and wouldn't go off. This happened for a while. Just pulled the fuse and no more light. Very easy preventative mod.

Is this the same thing? / Don't Worry About It
Is this something else? /I Replaced The FOB Battery

Has ANYONE Who Pulled The SLU Fuse - Had the Warning Light Continue To Come On?

I Researched (here) And Found;
It's the Key Battery
It's a Bad FOB
It's a Disconnected Receiver Wire By The E-Brake
It's Interference

I leave the "SMART"??? Key in the car (always)
Is That The Problem?

Should I Try The Regular Key?

HELP ME PLEASE GET RID OF THESE WARNING LIGHTS - THANK YOU:tiphat:

Can someone please answer this. Pulled fuse a week ago on my just purchased 09 sport and the steering lock is inactive but still have the intelligent key light!!!

Did this already; no change...

Should I reinstall the fuse and go to 'On' and remove again to see if the light goes away? And hope and pray the Steering Lock unit doesn't fail...

You could try putting the fuse back and see if that clears the light. If it does, pull the fuse back out and leave it out. You definitely don't want to leave it in, Murphy is an azzhole and will definitely bite you. :ugh2:

I don't think I've seen anyone reporting the 'key' light staying on after you pull the fuse, so a couple of thoughts. Have both fobs checked, if they are good, then ignore the light. Silly question, but did you pull the right fuse? Probably the best fix for this is to cut the brown wire people talk about. Check all the threads and see if there is a picture so you get the right one. When you get the right one, disconnect the battery before cutting the wire, safety first. Don't forget you will have to reset the windows. GL

there is probably another problem somewhere.

More than one person has reported that:
a) They put the battery in upside down
b) They purchased batteries that were, for fob purposes, dead

Okay - I've removed the fuse, cut the brown wire, and changed to a new battery in the key fob and still get the intelligent key warning light constantly burning!

I'm ready to black out the area on my cluster so I don't have to look at the damn thing anymore! Any more ideas? What fuse feeds this warning light?

Now that the brown wire is cut should I reinsert the fuse to see if that removes it?

Where in the center console is this?

MarksZ34 03-26-2016 10:49 PM

found the solution! Disconnected the battery for 40 minutes and it cleared the light! WooHoo! :excited:

Sorry for jumping in

But I can confirm in my australian 2013 370Z that 'the car won't start' issue comes from the clutch interlock switch that was shown on page 3 of this thread. Genuine replacement parts are coming from Japan which will take 4-6 weeks but it was only Aud30 or so. The mechanic has cleaned the two connecting rods thing in the switch and car starts up now without any hesitation.

Some final notes:
If you're experiencing the constant cycling between lock, ACC, On and off without anything else happening, the clutch interlock switch is probably dieing.
If you're having slow cranking problems, consider a new battery with a minimum of 582 CCA. I went with PowerSonic PNS70LMF batteries at my local Bridgestone Tire Centre and it fits fine in the battery compartment. MIND YOU, the car needs constant power even when swapping batteries, otherwise you'll have to factory reset the ECU at your local Nissan to get the windows to close up when you close your door.
Not much I can say about the steering lock mechanism except that you should have power steering function i.e. no steering lock when the car is on ON, otherwise get that checked.

Hope this helps!
