UPDATE;

I had the Intelligent Key Warning Light come on...
So after researching - I PULLED THE FUSE

Today I got the "No Key" Warning Light...
Is this the same thing? / Don't Worry About It
Is this something else? /I Replaced The FOB Battery

Has ANYONE Who Pulled The SLU Fuse - Had the Warning Light Continue To Come On?

I Researched (here) And Found;
It's the Key Battery
It's a Bad FOB
It's a Disconnected Receiver Wire By The E-Brake
It's Interference

I leave the "SMART"??? Key in the car (always)
Is That The Problem?

Should I Try The Regular Key?

HELP ME PLEASE GET RID OF THESE WARNING LIGHTS - THANK YOU:tiphat:

2010 370Z Roadster manual.

I've had intermittent starting issues, took it into the Nissan Dealer, and they need to replace the steering lock for $2700.

That's 3-4 weeks without my car now I need to go spend $900 on a rental :(

I live in New Zealand

AND Another One

It appears I am now having this issue as well. Key indicator light on, car does not go into ACC mode, and car does not start. I had the car towed to Nissan. They have not diagnosed the car yet, but I had already read about this on here. I called Nissan and referenced Campaign Bulletin NTB13-014. They had me give them my VIN and of course it was out of the range of this campaign.

Plenty of people have had the issue, so figured I would just say so on here. I haven't done anything else yet. They were too busy to look at the car today, so have to wait until tomorrow for diagnosis. Not sure if anyone was still trying to complain or write letters about it.

I went through the process of contacting Nissan and it took several days for them to get back to me to let me know that there was nothing that they are not willing to provide any assistance. 1150 sheesh.

*Sidenote, I like to roll my windows down when I walk to my car. Of course it started to rain while waiting on the tow truck. Luckily GEICO sent a pretty awesome truck that was covered, free of charge. Had a big Ferrari emblem on side of it. Fancy, haha.

Possible Short Term Fix to Get You Home if it happens to you!

Ok, so I got out of the gym this eve, the dreaded little "Key" light came on, car would not start, tried putting the fob into the slot, nothing, had someone come get me to get my second key (was not confident that was going to work because I looked at the forum on my phone while waiting). I got my second key and went back to the car, same problem! Learning from the forum that the problem was a solenoid in the locking mechanism, I ADJUSTED THE STEERING COLUMN UP AND DOWN RATHER VIOLENTLY. THE CAR STARTED. AT LEAST I WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME AND SAVE TOWING. THE CAR SUBSEQUENTLY STARTED. I thought this might help anyone who is in the same boat.

2010 touring/sport 6200 miles no sign of lock failure yet but ordered the
bypass harness from the car kit company, did not want to pull any fuses nor cut or splice any wires, this Is the best way to go if your like me an super meticulous. will let you know how it is when I install it.

There is no sign of failure til it happens. This if affecting a lot of Nissan models. I'm surprised this is still as issue.

I guess i got bit today

Justice97 01-04-2016 05:06 PM

I bit back about a couple of hours later.

I smacked it around a bit, showed it who was boss.(the370z.com is boss)

She started and I cut the brown wire.
Only 2.5 total hours of downtime.

Steering lock got :owned:.

Thanks to all.

Yes this includes Kenchan and Fritz.

Was grilling steak outside so decided to start my car to get warm, no prob. 2 hrs later on my way out, key fob clicked but passenger door didn't unlock. Went in, changed battery on fob, car door unlocked saw security light but not the yellow key light. push switch, no joy.. then alarm went off and I couldn't deactivate. Damn. Noticed that passenger door was frozen when I tried to open it...Screw it, I deal with it in daylight tomorrow...

Had my car towed to Nissan because it wouldn't start. They said it was the steering control module. Not sure if it's the same as the steering wheel "lock" but my extended warranty covered it all. Not gonna lie, get a warranty. I've already had about $1,500 in repairs.

In October I purchased a 2010 370Z Roadster/touring, 36,000 miles. Pre-purchase reading of this forum alerted me to the steering lock issues. Before I bought the car I checked that this car had the steering lock recall done. I'm now wondering if the recall really fixed the problem. I'm not having any problems but did the recall fix the problem or just cause new issues? Thanks.

Since people are reporting that the replacement ESCLs are failing, I'd say Nissan did not fix the problem. Pull the fuse.
