oh believe me i know exactly what you are talking about, but say if they are able to repair it i still owe a little over $15k on it and just like alot of people i would prefer not to carry any negative equity into a new Z no matter how good a deal they offered me lol. Believe me i'm weighing out my options though and if need be i'll just go back to a little honda civic beater for a while that i can just buy outright until i can get myself better situated to take on another Z.

Gotcha! :tiphat:

one word....don't! lol....but back on topic, anyone else have any other good suggestions i might be overlooking as far as drivers cars go, i would consider buying used too in case...matter of fact i was also checking out a used cobalt SS turbocharged since it's one of the very few FWD cars that actually holds its own pretty well through the corners

try out one of the older mini cooper s, you know the one with the supercharger, not the new one with the turbo

if you swap the pully on that supercharger, you will make really good power and the p2w ratio will be ridiculous(its like 2300lbs with 260hp)

Before i wanted a Z i was looking at getting into a BMW 135i or 335i. I strayed away from them because of the horror stories of break downs once you really start modding them. You can get a used toyota supra, corvette zo6, bmw m3. My choice would always be the Z hands down. I always see beamers, corvettes and such but i rarely see a 370. I think they are going to total your car there is front frame damage. It won't drive the same if it's fixed. Good luck!

Subaru STI. They're mad fast around town, and you would have less to worry about on wet roads.

Well guys I think I've made my choice and decided to consign myself to a little beater car for the time being just in case this ever happens again I don't have to rely on a rental and I can keep the miles off of whatever I decide to buy in the future but as of right now I'm leaning towards a used gt-r or another z maybe this Gen or next thanks for all the help guys and I hope I can still come to the meets even if I don't have a z or a sports car for the moment lol

Well its semi official z has already around twenty thousand worth of damage according to body shop and they are still wrapping up their inspection...time for a beater

This little accident , may cost you a lot in the long run, seeing as it is your fault and a total loss.

Before you buy a new sports car you should first call for some new quotes with different insurance companies and see it your rates have sky rocketed. Don't believe your current company if you ask if there are going to drop you or raise your rates.

In most cases like yours, the insurance company will drop you as soon as your 6 month policy is up.

Its my first incident in being with esurance in the last four years I've been with them and my policy was just renewed after the accident so I guess we shall see

Pour out a little octane for another Z that is dead and gone.

gsxr750 12-20-2012 04:56 PM

Just call a few companies and compare pre accident price to after the accident price with 3 companies. About 20yrs. ago I totaled a nissan truck in an accident with another car and my insurance doulbed for the next 4 yrs. It forced me to drive a small sentra, with very high deductables for 4 yrs.

One tip on your totaled car make sure that they give the full Retail value of the car plus sales tax on that amount they value your car at. Most states require this by law.

Also any extras you put into the car add up the retail value , even floor mats , trim , stereo etc.

final total damage cost $21,000...would anyone assume that it's safe to go out and get a beater car ASAP? only reason i ask is cause the body shop and insurance have put me in a tough spot as of today. when i talked with the body shop they basically told me straight out that it's not repairable, but then turned around and told me i have to wait and see what the insurance companies decision is so now im sitting here with only a few days left before i have to return my rental that i paid for out of pocket and will have no car to get back and forth to work afterwards. i have about $1000 as of right now that i can put as a down payment on something cheap but i have no idea if a delaership will even finance a car that is only about $3k to begin with. please if anyone has any experience with this can ya help a brother out?

Some body shops will provide you a loaner if they do the work. You may want to check that out. Since Esurance is a relatively new company I'm not sure if they can assist you. I'm assuming that you did not have rental vehicle coverage on your policy. Many people overlook this option that only costs a few dollars a month. Although it doesn't normally cover the entire rental amount it will pay around $20 per day or so for around 30 days.
