Crashed the 370z on Test Drive..

Went in yesterday to look at the 370z. On test drive the sales guy kept pushing me to "push it harder". Floored it as I was comming down an overpass with a slight right curve. Car went *** backwards into the medium at 77 mph and spun and hit the front. Nobody was hurt but the the Z was finished.

Bad *** car though, I will be going to a different dealer now though. They didnt seem to want my business. :shakes head:

i didnt see any warning light on the dash if it was. i certinaly didnt turn it off. the sales guy had to go pick it up from a lot like 10 minutes away. so if he turned it off and didnt tell me thats on him.

frost 07-05-2009 10:00 AM

Did you say something awesomely witty, like, you look up from your airbag and say "I'll have to think about it, she's a bit of a fixer upper"

cow 07-05-2009 10:04 AM

Nice work. Imaginary neg rep for you.

nurburgring 07-05-2009 10:05 AM

i do remember the sales guy screaming a bit. big tall guy sounded like he was a 10 year old girl. i should have responded with "relax, everything is under control" as we were spinning. :D

dancetracks 07-05-2009 10:07 AM

what happened to the super grip this thing is supposed to have?

nogoodname 07-05-2009 10:08 AM

should of said, "it's apart of the test drive, i need to know if i'm safe in an accident"
then say "we survive, let's talk numbers now" :)

nurburgring 07-05-2009 10:29 AM

lol.

i think it was the combo of comming down a slight hill with a right turn and me flooring it at that exact moment. i do remember being surprised the the back was going out but I was thinking even until we hit the medium that everything was in control. lmao.

StLRedrider 07-05-2009 10:38 AM

Noooooooooooooooooo way, did the salesmen sh#$ in his pants?

no but he screamed a bit and then wipped out his cell and called 911 and then called the dealer. after the hocus pocus was over we all went back to the dealership where the salesmen all gave me the stink eye. i slowly gathered my things, did something like this.. :tiphat: and was on my way. :driving:

KillerBee370 07-05-2009 10:56 AM

Whoa! Awesome...

I think what I'll do on this fine Sunday is leave mine parked safe and sound in my driveway, go down to my nearest Nissan dealership and wreck one of my own!!! Sounds like a hell of a good time!

Who's with me? Let's keep the numbers of these vehicles low so that we drive "rare and exotic" cars... teehee :stirthepot:

Educ8r 07-05-2009 11:02 AM

Quite pathetic.

LiquidZ 07-05-2009 11:04 AM

So what happens? Is it their insurance that covers it or yours? I feel like all they do when I test drive is just get ahold of my driver's license.

StLRedrider 07-05-2009 11:05 AM

Was everybody OK, For awhile here in Missouri you actually could test ride a motorcycle. I rode a CBR929 before i bought the thing, i think that is nuuuuts. This was about 65 miles south of St.louis, they don't offer that anymore

mrmixitup 07-05-2009 11:08 AM

Get another one. And drive much faster next time.

spearfish25 07-05-2009 11:28 AM

Once the car finally came to a stop, that was a perfect moment to slowly turn your head toward the salesman and give him a Chris Farley Tommy Boy "What'd you doooooo?"

fly yellow 07-05-2009 11:34 AM

Sort of a dumb move if you ask me. You should hope that the dealership doesn't sue you for the damage since you were driving recklessly. If the salesman asked you to drive it off a bridge would you have done that as well? I don't think the Z is for you. You obviously can't handle it, and you could hurt someone else.

The dealership plates are there because they have insurance coverage for test drives. The customer can be on the hook for the deductible however.

A lousy driver, exceeding his limits can toss one away no matter how much grip you "Think" you have...:shakes head:

BMW Killa 07-05-2009 11:46 AM

Just out of curiosity, what do you normally drive?

StLRedrider 07-05-2009 11:47 AM

Hopefully it has roll bars

Alright, alright, he's not the first to crash a Z from what I've seen.

nogoodname 07-05-2009 12:24 PM

test drive turned into a test crash......how bad was the Z beat up??

if it's less than 3K to repair...something like that....the dealership can fix it themselves and sell it without the future owner ever knowing.

Here is my understanding...
In the US, the car carries the insurance, not the driver. So be mindful of who you let drive your car. That said...

the car's insurance company can go after the driver's insurance company for the claim. The most you will likely be out is your dedectible, but can count as a claim against you.

SargeZ33 07-05-2009 12:56 PM

LOL!!!! OMG this is awsome!

nogoodname 07-05-2009 12:56 PM

that's if they even claim it, i mentioned if it's not bad....they will repair & sell without telling the future owner....happened to a guy on another forum...he later found out that half of his G37 has been painted

CrownR426 07-05-2009 12:58 PM

Very sad...
It's a privllege to drive the 370z, you wrecked the car and you make a post about it.
And I see your from Jersey...
Great.

I am sure the car had nothing to do with it....:shakes head:

nogoodname 07-05-2009 01:13 PM

it's common sense to not floor it while turning...lol.....maybe after the apex....ha
but going downhill doesnt help at all.

but who cares, as long as no one got hurt.

this thread should be locked...lol...only bashing to come

whoady4shoady 07-05-2009 01:17 PM

Bash Bash!

NXTAZEE 07-05-2009 01:19 PM

If the VDC was on that would not have happened. The throttle would have cut right back or cut off, and the brakes would have engaged before the slide.
