Default Problems with 370z

Hi guys

I am completely new in here, and I am doing my research on getting a 09 to 10 370z.

while I look up consumer digest, and all those magazines, many of them claim that 370z is a horrible car on reliability, and so....

and I do some searches in this forum, but I can't really find any info on them.... would someone please help me out on that?
(at least let me know which section should I go to?)

thanks

yup 97000 miles as of yesterday with an '09 Z. No issues other than tires/gas

Bought my '09 new. Only repair has been a new ambient temperature sensor which was fixed quickly under warranty. Changed out the stock tires with Continentals for much less cabin noise and smoother ride. Car has been a joy and I plan to keep it for its full life. I only have driven 10,200 easy miles in almost three years, as the car is garaged all winter and used mostly for pleasure driving in nice weather. I have found my Z to be very reliable and easy to maintain. The CR reports seem to be misleading unless you're taking your car to the racetrack---that's a whole other story I can't comment on.

The only issue I have had is warped rotors with the sport brakes at 15k. If I listened to consumer reports I would never have bought any of the vehicles I have owned over the last 10 years. I am glad I ignor CR.

I would listen to owners much more than consumer reports. A while back I bought a Genesis Coupe, mostly because the reviews mentioned how reliable it was. Not so, it was a nightmare from day one. Not two months would go by without having to go back for one issue or another. In talking to other owners, it was common to hear how unreliable it was. After owning it for only a year and half, I sold it and went to the 370z.

So listen to the owners, do ask questions but be more cautious with "professional" reviews. Word-of-mouth is how a decent reputation among owners is created.

Good luck, and for reference, I love mine so far

I'd probably not buy an 09 Z out of warranty, unless it had already had the ECU and steering wheel lock replaced. Those are probably among the costliest common problems that have occurred in that year (and maybe 2010s too). Having said that, I have an 09 and I haven't had a single repair (with only 14k miles mind you).

I should add that as a rule I do not buy used cars that do not have some warranty left on it. I've had my Z for just over 2 years (bought used in 2010). My warranty is up next month.
