The first car shares some lines with the 370. Thanks for sharing.

man....I hate being negative, but most of those concepts are kind of ugly. The crossover one at the end looks okay.

The White concept in the beginning ... you can see where they took lines and inspiration for the GTR and 370Z.

The small city concept cars are typical of Japanese automakers; Honda/Toyota/Nissan ... they LOVE those funky designs.

The Japanese are pushing the envelope for future design. What we don't like now, we will eventually grow to like over time as they keep introducing obscure vehicles. We so far have learned to accept shapes like the Nissan Cube, Juke, Versa and even the GT-R. Many didn't think the GT-R looked all that nice in the beginning. Many complained it was too bulky and the raked roofline was ugly... As was said about the 370z initially. I think the raked roofline has become the signature of beauty for these cars now.
These bodylines on Nissan are not reminiscent of any other vehicle but Nissan. This is what they are trying to capture with these insane designs. But i'm sure the final outcomes will end up as better looking vehicles. Import Zero-Emissions cars in general have all had weird designs though.

Do we see a strong hint at the Nissan Esflow Concept?

Yeah, i had seen this already. It's as if they are throwing it out there to see what kind of feedback they get from people. And by the idea, I of course mean the whole "240 Z" vs a bigger engine.

I feel like the Z car will always remain a fastback coupe, but it seems the designer went with a mix between a fastback and a shooting brake when the Z34 was designed. There's more of an abrupt end to the back of the Z34 than in previous generations. The Z will probably continue in that direction, as the Esflow seems to show.

To be quite honest I will be looking for a huge improvement in the Z35 iteration, or at least, a redesign that doesn't blow.

If the car weights 3000lbs, design doesn't suck, and engine (v6 or inline-4 turbo) gets around 25MPG, I'd be very interested in it.

Something that's closer to 3000 lbs with a turbo i4 is closer to the realms of a Silvia, which would be amazing if Nissan brought it back.

With i4 turbos pushing more power than the average v6 20 years ago, it's hard to see the Z compete if it were to go back to basics with a high output smaller displacement v6 without turbos even if it sheds a few hundred lbs.

Power aside, I'd love to see the Z go back to basics with a slightly smaller chassis with super fast engine response and handling reflex. Whatever brings the FUN in driving again.

James May himself couldn't have said it better....and I agree with you (and him).
