Do any 370Z drivers "wave" at each other?

I used to own a 2005 WRX STI before the Z and the same day I got the car I quickly noticed something that I was not used to with a car, that as soon as someone else with a WRX (regardless of year) would see me they would beep and wave. In the 7 years I had this car not once did I pass by a WRX and they wouldn't acknowledge me. Many times I would be driving and hear a beep and as I would look at my rearview mirrors sure enough it was a WRX driver that had passed me and would be sticking their hand out the window waving.

My question is, why don't 370Z drivers do the same? I understand that this car is not as rare as the WRX (at least in Miami) but you don't see them that often either. Is there a reason for this? I also have a sportbike and people wave at me all of the time regardless of what motorcycle they're riding.

Just wondering why not with the 370Z?

JungleZ 09-22-2012 11:00 AM

I may give a head nod or thumbs up once in a while, but i could careless about waving man.

forza370z 09-22-2012 11:21 AM

I give thumbs up to the z drivers time to time and I receive the same on the road too. But seems like the Civic guys like to give me more love then anybody else on the road by revving up their v-techs.:ugh2:

w0rM 09-22-2012 11:31 AM

I try to wave at all the Zs I see. I rarely get a wave back. :(

forza370z 09-22-2012 11:41 AM

^^ Lol. Your poor thing...

Bucketlist2012 09-22-2012 11:45 AM

I never see a 370Z when I am driving.

They seem to be rare where I am at...Which is quite cool.

But I would thumbs up or head nod...I save the waving for Boating on the water...

Mt Tam I am 09-22-2012 11:47 AM

I always wave at Z's, 240 on. I have even driven along side one 370 for 15 seconds honking until I got his attention, and a wave back.

KSFastah 09-22-2012 11:50 AM

I flick other bikers when I'm riding my motorcycle....can't be bothered with any of it while I'm driving my car. *shrug*

Xplicit97 09-22-2012 11:51 AM

Yea I generally wave at Zs in general, and always at 370s.. Although women don't seem to understand this custom. They're the ones I get strange looks from

kfull 09-22-2012 11:54 AM

I pulled up next to another 370 on the highway a few weeks ago...it was a couple in probably in their 50s, we simultaneously gave each other thumbs up, other 370s I've waved at or looked over to they pretended to not even see me. It's pretty hit or miss

NV370z 09-22-2012 12:06 PM

If you have time to wave you are doing it wrong, leave waving to the jeep crowd.

Boost_lee 09-22-2012 12:12 PM

:hello:

864Zbeast 09-22-2012 12:47 PM

Only z's in my area are 350 not 370 and I try to wave but i could careless if they wave back. I get more thumbs up and people breaking their necks than waves. That's all that matters.

djrelic 09-22-2012 12:53 PM

Mostly dentists, family doctors, and CPAs drive them around here. I dont think they are enthusiasts, they just like the look of the car. Seeing a young guy like me driving one, I dont think they really care to wave. They just think Im some punk kid driving a sports car.

WRXs, EVOs, are a totally different club cause people go out of their way to buy one of those. It's like when I used to drive toyota tacomas.. everyone just drove it no one ever waved. Wasnt until I bought an FJ cruiser that I would see other cruisers wave.

It just having that one off car that only a select few find really attractive. The FJ was like the fat girl at the prom with the pretty eyes.

Dustin@Z1 09-22-2012 12:53 PM

The WAVE or High Beam FLASH was once a very popular trend with the Z owners...especially the older ones. This trend does not seem to exist anymore with the 350Z and 370z owners unfortunately.

I always bump my high beams when passing another Z if I am in my car. You will normally get a response like a FLASH or wave back from either a long time Z owner, multiple generation Z owner or someone who has been in the community for a long time.

chknhawk 09-22-2012 01:05 PM

Wave ALL the time. Its the nice thing to do. :-)

I got a lot more waves in my 77 280z. But I always try to wave on the highway. I get waves back from the sport drivers, less from the touring and base crowd. I think you are right, this car has appeal to more than just enthusiasts. I get the feeling that some people just don't realize what a cool, historied car they are driving.

More mods=>more chance of a waveback.

It might be silly, but I don't bump my lights because I hear those bulbs don't like coming on and off alot.

This is 100% true in many cases. The history of the Z is just as interesting and colorful as any of that of a Ferrari or Porsche in my opinion. The history and car culture associated with the Z is why I work here at Z1 and why a Z was my first car....and why I now own 4 and always looking for more!

frost 09-22-2012 01:56 PM

I thought they were supposed to tell you that there is a z greeting when you bought the car.

:icon18: Ha ha! I havent seen that before!!!

Pheonix 09-22-2012 02:09 PM

Here in Memphis there's a fairly large Z crowd, many of them enthusiasts of some level. Most around here will flash or wave, and surprisingly I get a lot of respect from the Corvette crowd.

The Hondas of course love to rev, and yesterday I had a guy in an Acura 2.5 ride my rear and slam against his rev limiter as he paced me. I'm not sure what he was doing, lol.

Mustangs of course feel the need to prove themselves, but I've had very few Camaros feel the need to "flex".

Something about those Ford guys, lol

Agree I'm 20 so I don't think the older guys like to wave...

The 370z is very rare where I'm at, I see a lot of 350z though, but when I see a 370z on the road, I give a thumbs up or a wave.

Same situation where I'm from, sti's are everywhere. Not many z's but people still don't wave, I'm assuming it's because I look young.

kidkotic2001 09-22-2012 05:17 PM

I do not wave at other Z owners I do the head nod or the peace sign. I usually get a peace sign or thumbs up.

mhcoss 09-22-2012 07:01 PM

I always wave to other Z owners regardless of which one they are in

Nismodean 09-22-2012 07:47 PM

I'm too good to wave, thumbs up, flash, or peace sign at others, or show my enthusiasm to the the Z culture. I'm just way too busy looking at myself in the rear view mirror. When I see another person driving a 370Z I sneer at them as if they don't belong in that car, or I just ignore them completely as if they don't exist. But I'll suck the skin off that mans taint if he drives his GTR near me.

This is what I notice from all but one 370Z owner here in Kitsap county, WHAT UP 370ZJAMES!

takjak2 09-22-2012 07:56 PM

Waves for Zs

NissanGuy23 09-22-2012 08:16 PM

Ive never gotten any acknowlegment at all from Z owners, the one time i saw a fellow nismo i got like a pinky finger wave. Even when im side by side with a 370, i get nothing like im not there. Z people just dont do it :(

I'm 47. Dunno if that makes me an "older guy" but I wave.

obito 09-22-2012 08:22 PM

I look alike 16, so I think people dont wave to me because they think I stole a dad car to show off around like a punk kid lol

2010ZilverZ 09-22-2012 08:26 PM

I'm the only 370Z in my area right now so I feel kinda special :happydance:

Theres quite a few 350Z around and I'll flash my lights when I see'M ... Friday I had some chick in a red 350Z hang out her drivers window wavin' like a mad hatter :hello:

henryy370z 09-22-2012 08:58 PM

around my area we flick our high beams but i only see 350 rarely 370 :))

urdeliveryguy 09-22-2012 09:12 PM

i always wave or check them out. even the older z's get love.

Macey370z 09-22-2012 10:14 PM

There's plenty of Z's in my area mostly 350z but they wave/beep at me on a daily basis.

LukasC 09-22-2012 10:54 PM

Yes!!! All z owners are family my friend! I wave at every single z on the road and g's too their are cousins pretty much! A lot of them wave back but sometimes not like the people that are gangsterfying their cars and look like thugs they ignore me lmao oh well

Thank lord there is another 20 year old 370 owner out there im always the young guy to all the meets lmao!!!

KanataZ 09-23-2012 01:16 AM

When on two wheels, I wave at anything on two wheels. When in the Z, I wave or flash at any Z. It's about 50/50 returned in either case.

Yeah, all the time! Fellow Z drivers are really cool for the most part. The teenagers in the crappy Honda Civics are what really annoy me. No, I don't want to race your wannabe wind up toy!:gtfo2:
