I've actually had someone ask me if I took my dads car
Out on a joy ride after getting out of the car lol .

scope22 09-23-2012 02:10 PM

nope....when i drove my trans am i always got waves from other trans am owners....370 owners aren't that cool for some reason

Xplicit97 09-23-2012 02:24 PM

It's funny everyone saying there aren't very many 370s around.. Where I live in Washington (Kitsap county) there are 3 including mine in my apartment complex alone.. All black too, mine was the only for a while but then bam 2 new MB show up. One sport and one base.. My Gf tells me they fool my dog and she (my dog) gets all excited thinking its me.. lol. Then she gets all disappointed because I'm away Tdy and the Z is with me. There is probably at least 10 now int the Silverdale/Bremerton area. I account this to the Navy and those nuc reenlistment bonuses lol. Several new GTRs too, but those are them senior enlisted and officer types

Felix 808 09-23-2012 10:00 PM

I have, but have got no replies  I even wave at other model Z cars with similar results. I do it as a carry over from bikes & Jeeps. Sometimes you get a :hello: sometimes you don't. Just haven't got one in the Z yet.

nmjaxx9 09-24-2012 01:44 PM

I wave all the time, most people wave back, but I usually combine a honk with a wave so I catch their attention.:driving:

Mikes350z 09-24-2012 02:01 PM

i always give the headlight flash when we are going opposite ways or a honk if i see one at an intersection, rarely get a response. I also do it to 350Z owners since I came from a 350 and I get ZERO love for that.

so many 350 owners hate us 370 owners, I always want to yell " I used to own a 350!"

NBZ34 09-24-2012 02:12 PM

I always bump the highbeams at other Zs.. more times than not I'll get a response back.

bdavis89 09-24-2012 02:19 PM

I always try to look for acknowledgement, but only once have I ever gotten anything. I rode by another white 370z on the interstate, the other owner looked admiringly at my car, so I honked my horn quickly at him. Other than that, I've never even seen another 370z driver look my way. I'm always looking and then end up like :wtf: when they don't even see me! I guess I'm just a car guy, so I'm constantly aware of what other cars I'm around :ugh2:

I gotta say its the opposite. I get way more 350z luv than 370z dudes. Z34 male drivers out here swear on themselves like they're driving a semi-exotic. lol. I try to show love but most dudes got there head too far up there azz to even realize it anyway. I get a lot of female Z driver love... whether they're in the Z31-32-33-34. They always show luv. And they're the only ones who matter. :tiphat:

I take chix approval over sausage approval any day. :hello:

ERZperformance 09-24-2012 04:02 PM

Personally it doesn't matter what kind of car you drive, should never wave at someone else who is driving the same car as you do.

DEpointfive0 09-24-2012 04:12 PM

I wave to all 370Z's and I usually get a pretty good response, but most 350Z drivers just stare at me, so either I don't wave or give a small nod or something, lol

i wave, give the thumbs up, not only to Z's but to anyone that drives a special car....
got a nod from the R8 driver, wave's/smiles from lot of different makes....

Kingbaby 09-24-2012 06:09 PM

I just eye the fcuk out of you 370Z drivers...cause I hate you all...

Please explain yourself because this makes no sense. You obviously have not been in the Z community long enough to understand that the WAVE, FLASH, etc. is a part of the Z car culture.

Kingbaby 09-24-2012 06:29 PM

maybe he's getting at it may be distracting?

:iagree:
Its a part of gearhead culture... All motorists with the same or cool cars or people who like cool cars wave or nod or something. And bikers give each other a signal too

EmpireDude 09-25-2012 03:57 AM

I've waved to and been waved at by plenty of 350z drivers in my 350z. The couple 370z's I've seen usually are keen on my driving a Z car too. Part of why I love the Z Car/community!

And they are prolly yelling in their heads "I wish I had a 370z!" :icon17:

but yeah the 350 owners I don't really respond to much, and I think that irks them a lot. O well. Im doing me you do you.

gordonb50 09-26-2012 12:26 PM

After driving Corvettes for years then switching to the 370Z, it was a habit I already had. I have noticed that not many wave back, though.

Strangler 09-26-2012 01:11 PM

I certainly don't wave or anything unless someone else waves at me first. I don't think the Z has a close community like the Motorcycles or the Jeeps. I know that most of the time Motorcycles do their wave thing and the same for Jeeps. As for the Z, I don't think the people really care to be honest.

enkei2k 09-26-2012 01:30 PM

I would wave, or give a thumbs up if I see one...IF I see one (370 only, 350s get no love from me :p). I haven't spotted one for a while now.

I wonder why?? I'm sure that everyone who owns a Z has come to this forum at least once...there is such a great community.

It depends on what kind of wave you give. If you are trying real hard to get someones attention you will probably creep them out (like sticking your whole head out of your car and yelling waving and hoking) LOL thats called being thirsty for attention so thats most who gets no love or the other party who will proabably be like why was that guy having a seizure while driving...LOSER :icon17:

Half the time I don't even pay attention to waves or even high beam flashes, but when someone honks and waves then I participate. Its called mutual respect and admiration and playing it cool. Thats how we Z/G drivers roll.

370zGatorman 09-27-2012 07:57 PM

I had a 300z wave at me last week which was cool as I rarely see them on the road. I always either wave or flick the headlights when passing any Z's.

I had a kid, not that i'm old, but :icon17: anyway he was in a 240sx and wouldn't stop trying to keep up in traffic and stare :ughdance: so I rolled the window down to wave and get the stare :shakes head:

Well maybe I'm excited because i'm new to the Z community :tiphat: and want to hang out the car because every Z I saw up to that point didn't wave so I was fed up and went :excited:

TheGreatOne 09-27-2012 10:41 PM

I was in upstate NY a few weeks back and a 300ZX waved at me...I was fumbling with something so only shot a thumb up as he was almost at my doors

I've waved at most 370's or have been waved at, especially if modded..don't see them everyday

NissanGuy23 09-28-2012 08:22 AM

I was at a stoplight in town, the parking lot to my right had a red base 370 a few feet away and the women who owned it was getting in. I did a slight beep and gave a thumbs up - she just smiled slightly and went back to her business, im pretty sure she did not make the connection that i was waving because we both have the same car, i have a feeling she just figured i was a stranger waving for the hell of it lol.

This was right after a modded S4 went by and beeped at me full arm out the window giving a big thumbs up

6MT 09-28-2012 08:39 AM

:hello::tiphat:

yep

370Z Purist 09-28-2012 09:49 AM

I gesture to most 370Z owners (at least the ones that can see me) and usually get a response. But that's given that the Chicago community kind of knows each other more so than a random driver. Most female owners usually don't get it, excepting the owners here.

I was elated when a guy in a beautifully restored, orange 69 notchback took a good hard look, did this face:

http://2012-08-yourmunky.s3.amazonaw...t-bad-meme.png

then gave a thumbs up and smiled. I returned the favor.

Xplicit97 09-28-2012 01:49 PM

I'll even do it to hotrods and muscle cars, with mixed results.. I think the older guys get confused that a "younger guy" driving a "import" appreciates classics.. I have gotten alot of compliments from the older crowd though too.. Many think its a Porsche LOL

It's always a Porsche.
