What percentage of 370z owners own a house?
Just curious here....
|
Just sold my rental and built a second....
|
Why buy a house when you can own a Z......
:driving::driving::driving: |
Interesting...
What made you ask this question? BTW, I voted "own" but there should have been an option for "My bank owns..." |
Being military, and seeing as I'm single living in the Baltimore area, I most definitely live on base :-p
|
I own my house
|
Live with the parents, but pay rent/utilities, so none fit me.

I used to own one when I lived in the UK, but renting since I moved here
|
I'm not trying to diss but unless you're under 18 there is no way you should be living with your parents (unless of course you are taking care of them) and be driving a sports car. Priorities man.
One of the following statements does not belong: Hey baby, look at my bada$$ car. Hey fellas check out how fast my whip is. C'mon man I told you not to call me after 10 my "roommates" are sleeping. |
liv'in with my parents and house was paid off awhile ago

In a financial situation I choose, since I had the option, to live at home during college. I pay rent, pay my own bills, buy food, pay for my car, pay for college, and in return get a slightly reduced rent bill by living at home. Pluses, I get a bigger place than anywhere else I could rent, safe neighborhood, and my parents do not care if people call late. Hell, people ask where I live and I will gladly say my parents house, I have no shame in the fact I own a sports car and live at home, because of the long list of things in the second sentence. |

Personally, I prefer to do the nasty as far away from my parents as possible. In 1996 I accidentally killed a girl trying to keep her quiet in my parents house, at least thass what I told the judge. |
Home owner here of two properties and looking to buy a third since this economy is making it so easy to do so.
The benefits from owning are substantial btw when it comes to tax breaks, equity and credit building. Not to mention investment potential in this economy. |

Every local Z driver that I have talked to lives at home and drive a $40k car. Don't get me wrong I lived at home till I was 24 but didn't drive a $40k car and I saved over $100k which I used to buy my first home. |

I was seriously thinking of buying a third property as well but I've wanted a new Z forever and life is short....
|
I personally own a home but I don't see any shame in having a nice car but living with the parents if you're in transition. And by transition I mean you better be in school or in some apprenticeship or something of the sort.

8.5 years i've owned my house, almost lost it to the x-girlfriend last year.
|
Been a home owner since 2004.
|
I'd buy here in L.A. if it made any sense too, but I'd pay more in interest and HOA (even after accounting for taxes and such) than I would on rent for comparable (if not nicer) places.
Plus I needed a car as my old 97 Honda was fallin apart (I coulda gone cheaper, sure, but life's short). |
there's another school of thought in owning a house...some rich people here do not buy house but prefer to rent. imagine this...you have 200k+ cash...they believe that it would be better used in investing the money somewhere else that makes money rather than spending on a house...they choose to rent than spend money buying a house...
|
I "rent," but it's paid by my company. I need to be in the "none of the above" category that isn't an option.
|
A little higher percentage of people living with their parents than I would have thought.

I own my house
I purchased it in the spring of 07 and was moved in by August due to remodeling the inside, I was 23 when I bought my house... Its 1600sqft with full basement and 2 1/2 car garage Detached on a 3/4 acre lot I love it!!!! DAN DAN |
3100 sq/ft, although I'm sure others' homes dwarf mine. Especially out in the country where the property is a lot cheaper. My grandparents have the same size house in the country and paid 1/3 what I had to in the Phoenix area.
|
1400 square foot here, just me and 2 bloodhounds. Moved here to the big city from an 100 acre farm with a pre-civil war farm house. What a change. I miss the country.

I live by myself in vancouver for studying, and my parents bought me 2.4 million(4000sf) house for family investment. Back in china, my parents live in 5 million house(9000sf) in hongkong.:ugh2:
In my dream:p |

I deal with a lot of wealthy clients that don't own a house. Lots of them rent (especially if they live in the city) and some may own some vacation property elsewhere.
Some people say it's a waste of money to rent, but for some people the ease of apartment living is worth it. It's as much a financial decision as it is one of personal preference whether you ultimately own or rent. As far as the whole living with the parents thing... as soon as I graduated from school I lived with my parents for a while paying rent. I could have easily bought some ridiculous car and lived with them paying cheap rent but there's no way in hell I was going to do that. Like someone else said, it's all about priorities. I sacrifice nothing to own my Z. I live in the apartment I want and have all the crap I want and need to call it home. The Z is just an accessory. I know a lot of people stretch to be able to afford the car that they really want, and many do it at the expense of their living standards. I know there are people that can only own their Z's because they are paying discounted rent at their parent's house. If they are content with being confined to living under their parents wing until they get a fat raise or pay their car off that's fine... but it's never something I could see myself doing. |

From a financial perspective, owning is always going to be better than renting if you assume that the value of the property stays the same or appreciates because you will get your mortgage payments back in a sale. If you're renting, you're throwing that rental payment away and will never get it back. |
Quote:
To me the benefit of owing the home is (usually) appreciation of the property AND the mortgage interest write off every year, so the benefit is two fold. |

But I agree about the benefits of owning. I just like the idea of having my own property even if it means I have to cut the grass myself. |
It also depends on the cost of living in your area, in some places the housing market is much more favorable.
