I always try to pick nicer advisors by looking at reviews online or through friends referrals before I go to a new dealership. So most of them are great except for those BMW guys. Those are really pushy and recommend tons of unnecessary stuff.

I don't tip them but I give them gift cards, bottles of wine, etc on special occasions like Thanksgiving, Christmas. Sometimes I just give them baseball tickets when I can't make it to the games.

I never even considered tipping at a dealership...

The pizza and coffee is a good idea for the service techs.

I think the pizza thing is a great idea. I'm gonna buy pizza for my guy on Fri I think. They did me a huge freaking favor fixing my key fob issue over the past 2 weeks.

I avoid dealer service departments like the plague. No, I do not tip the Black Death.

I give my sales rep tips...

Last tip i gve him was "Don't pick up any wooden nickels".

The dealership makes a shytload on us. The sales reps job is to kiss your azz in your face while behind your back they need to find a way to overcharge. lol. I'm rapin' the dealer... not vice versa. At least wherever i can.

lol

took my Z to fix the soft top. it's scrapping the painted tonneau. the service advisor asked his manager to get approval to touch up the chip + adding clear protection film to prevent future damages. I didn't buy the car from that dealer, but that was something beyond what they needed to do. I really appreciated their work but the "tip" thing never came across my mind at that time.

No, don't tip. If they are nice to you and you want to build good relationship with them, coffee and donuts will do.

We get a lot of donunts and baked goods, not all service depts are created equal. We bend over backwards for our customers...its our owners way and philosophy, and 90% of people that fight with me is because they do not want to pay when its not warranty...Yesterday I ate a $350 bill because a lady refused to pay, the dead mouse causing the odor in her evaporator box that filled up the blower motor with the dog food from her garage, who has never had mice in her garage in 10+ years, quote "came with the car and therefore is warranty"...after we pulled the dead mouse, sanitized the car and cleaned the blower out we did infact find a deceased Japanese ninja mouse...

I know all the dealers are not honest and some service depts are just terrible, but the good ones are out there, and if you find them, create a relationship, it will go a far way, I can rattle off numerous people I know by name that are fantastic customers, I service all their vehicles, not just the Honda, and they know we are higher priced(but the regulars get far better pricing), but it is a professional relationship and trust; you want great service, get to know the tech and request them by name, trust me!

If anyone is in the Pittsburgh/greensburg area, let me know which dealer you go to, one of my co-workers is a former nissan service manager and knows about all the staff at South hills, pittsbugh east and star in gburg, I can give you some names of people that will take car of you, either tech or advisor.

I never did. Not that I'm stingy. It just never came across my head 'til seeing such discussion.
Kidding, right? My service advisor (Worldcar Nissan San Antonio) asked me if I wanted my tires rotated and if I really wanted to spend the extra money for synthetic oil as it makes no real difference. I no longer visit this team of professionals!
