Do you tip your service advisor?

I hardly tip waitress cause they believe it's a given without earning it. But I'll tip my alignment guy and any low guy that works on my car.

Dude, always tip the waitress/waiter. If you had to go through the crap they go through, you'll realize that they do earn it. They get payed less than minimum wage without a decent tip. Think of it this way...they are basically your 'servant' for a half-hour or more. How would you feel after an hour of serving someone and getting payed $5 total for it. A 15%-20% tip really isn't that much. I know a lot of people that run restaurants. Always be nice to people the bring or cook your food...ALWAYS!

OP, there is no need to tip the advisor. It might even be insulting because some might consider themself as more white collar. I'd tip the tech actually working on the car if they did a really good job. Buy the service advisor guys donuts or something if they really helped you out.

Have you ever seen Reservoir Dogs? If not, watch the intro scene.

Don't get me wrong. I know my remark was blunt. But I do tip and well at that. I was aplling that if they work for it sure but if they are flat out just doing the very minimum then no I won't let a tip just cause. The other I had to ask three times for a refill even after she came to the table. So she needs to be more aware of what's needed.

And to add to that I hate the fact when you go somewhere and one person takes your drink order, one for main course, and another person brings it out to you. What? Then the hole time you'll have others refill your drink. In that case who am I tipping? All of them? I don't think so.

Not true. There are some states where waiters/waitresses are paid minimum including tips. However, there are some states that do pay below minimum.

..not in NY and not in a lot of states. I few people I know earn about $2.50 or less, plus tips. The problem is, it's not always consistent and you don't get paid much on slow days.

Never thought about tipping a service advisor. I have a good one that has been there for many years and saved me money. When I get my new car in, I will start bringing donuts.

I give the owner of my dealer here a nice bottle of wine and tip the tech. I cannot say enough about my dealer. The owner started as mech many many years ago on Nissan's. Family place great people and atmosphere. Unlike any dealer I had in the US ever. No comparison.
