Hm this thread generated more responses than I have imagined.

Well, of course many things won't convince them (such as my driving skills) but I'll explain the "none of your business" part of the story.

This vehicle is going to be shared between my older sibling who already had her license for more than 3 years. We're going to be sharing the vehicle but she let me choose instead. So not only I have to convince my parents, but her as well.
I made 5 choices of cars that she finds pretty okay, but I don't know until the real test drives.

There's many.. variables going against me I suppose.

That's why Kaien's suggestion was a great idea, same with another friend of mine that told me to look for each vehicle's long-term road test.

Thanks for the forum welcome... in a way.

None of the above - BRZ/FRS or Hyundai Veloster.

Get the Toyota Camry or Toyota Avalon for a first car.

Get a sports car a few years down the road.

You'll appreciate it much more, and learn the basics of the road in a more forgiving car.

Tya, first off I'm very excited for your situation. You really can't go wrong with the choices...well except for the Avalon. Some members nailed it when they said that the Z as a first car might be more than you ask for (I'm not talking money, but rather power, control...) You know better what you can or can't do and how good of a driver you are so power to you brother. That being said, good luck with your sis, I doubt she would be wanting to roll in a 2 doors sports car with rougher suspension when she could be taking her girlfriends out shopping with the top down :icon17: - good luck with that one

The question was never about whether he could afford the car, his parents gave him the choice, answer the question and move on.

Ya! he actually said that..I am not kidding..

Years later he is employed in sales..is it any wonder?

hahaha Richarlie, really smart kid who knows how to play his parents. I would have gone straight to the dealership had my kid told me the same :icon17:
