Some 370Z Concerns

Ya there will be no difference essentially between an 09-12. very minor differences. but coming from a g, this will be a lot more firm and sporty of a ride.

yah most folks (including me) would think G35C owners would naturally go to a G37C, but not the case for me. it's a completely different car, different dynamics/vibe. G37C's are not a car enthusiast car like the G35C is. it's a lot prettier inside, but then lost much of the fun factor for some reason from its more mature theme.

but then G35C and 370Z are also completely different. both fun to drive and own, but in a very different way.

<- Big guy here. I way in around 290lb @ 6ft tall (back in April I was at my personal highest of 338 lb). A coworker of mine who has probably 50lb on me but is much shorter (so much wider) didn't seem to have a problem. The car is very comfortable to me at my size so I don't think it would be a problem unless they area really big. I already consider myself pretty damn big.

My fiance and I are really looking at the 370Z for our next car. We are replacing our 2003 G35 Coupe. We've been doing a lot of research and are now down to the final few things that need to be addressed before making a decision. Here is our list:
  • Which year has the best reliability? We're not interested in the 2009 due to poor reviews and higher miles.
  • That back window is very small and causes concern for visibility issues. Also, the blindspots are pretty apparent but I've been told that there are extra mirrors you can stick on the sideviews to compensate. Is this the case?
  • The space inside the Z is really concerning. What happens if we want to put an overweight friend / family member in the passenger seat. Will it be extraordinarily uncomfortable? Is it safe for the passenger?
  • We live in New Orleans where there are a lot of terrible potholes and uneven roads. How will this affect the Z?
  • How bad is outside noise? If my fiance and I are on a long road trip will we be able to talk at a confortable volume in the car? Or will we have to scream to hear each other? I've been told there is some sort of fix for the road noise called "Dynamat". Does anyone know anything about this?
  • What about cargo space? Can you pack the car comfortably for two people to take a road trip for a week? It seems like if you have a navigation system there isn't any storage space in the front.
  • We've heard that the 370Z has reliability issues. Can someone please explain what that really means? What kind of notable issues are there?

If anyone can address any of our concerns we would be most appreciative. This whole process is a little overwhelming so we're just trying to cover all our bases the best we can. My fiance really loves this car and we want to make sure its a reasonable buy for what we need. Thanks in advanced.
So far as I can tell you're looking for an SUV. I don't hear any concerns regarding temperament on the road, spirited driving, or anything else that would bother someone with a SPORTS car. Your concerns seems to be about cargo space and soundproofing. Well an SUV solves all of that, don't have to worry about pot holes, plenty of space, and rugged & reliable. It'll fit your fat friend and a bunch of his fat buddies too!

I'm 6'4 235lbs with wide shoulders and its pretty comfy to sit in and drive. like any non suv/truck I get out of it's not fun, but I slide right in when getting in. I have a MT Touring model and have no issues driving it. I too was worried about the blind spots, but I got over that really quick. The hardest part for me is parking it for some reason... The car is really short but it has a wide a$$.

You get used to the slight road noise, it will be a non-issue and like mentioned above, you can get better tires.

A good idea is to go to a carmax(needs premium gas and oil change asap) and get one. Condition and miles are good and price is very reasonable. The kicker is, you have 5 days to drive it and return it with no questions asked if you don't like it.

It's really hard not to fall in love with the car. This car also holds its value really well so I'm sure if you decide to sell it in a year, it wont be much of a loss.

So why not make your fiance's 50 shades of grey dream come to fruition and get the car!
Wow what a nice sales pitch!!!
Do you work or worked for Carmanx?? Makes me buy another Z

I don't work nor have worked for CarMax, I've done business there along with a few people I know and have had nothing but a great experience. Only dislike would be the sub87 bulk fuel they put in and the bulk low quality engine oil. Quick fix if all is replaced right after you buy from there. prices are completely fair(including selling your vehicle to them).

Not to b a hole but your buying a Z which is a sports car. road noise and all that comes with the territory. I couldn't even answer that question to road noise because either one my music is to loud. Or two i just don't care enough to notice. But I have conversations in my car with my girl, family and we can hear each other just fine.

If this car had reliability issues do you think any of us would have brought this car?

My late 71 year grandpa who was around 250+ didn't have a problem in the passenger side. He side the car was to low and hard to get in an out of.

With all the bashing this car took i didnt care i loved my 350z and i love my 370z. I took it as is. its not perfect. Alot of your answers can be answered from a test drive. Not one but maybe TWo! I drive my car in the Snow, bumbs all that just be careful. You have a G35 really no different. This Car is not meant to have storage space. Take luggage to nissan and see what fits. You don't want our opinion because we already have the car. Most love it. if they need more then the 370z can give them they have 2nd cars. This is my DD.
Good luck.

Their prices are somewhat high, and they don't haggle. Where's the fun if you don't get the lowball the salesman and make him run back and forth two or three times.
