A 2013 VW Beetle. Sadly, it does not have a flower vase but I have gotten some funny looks driving it so far.
Beetle without the flower ????????????????????? Hey man, hang in tight, those idiots will eventually get it right, otherwise you just keep getting rental cars and expense gas

3 "issues" I had. Might be nitpicking but the car is 3 months old and was prisitine prior to the accident so:

#1 - Drivers side door sticks slightly on opening. Can't tell whether it's a painting/new gasket problem or something more serious but it definitely pulls on the window when opening the door which I suspect isn't good for that little motor that moves the window in/out when you open and close the door.

#2 - Front spoiler not quite aligned right. On both sides of the spoiler at the very bottom near both wheels there's a small gap between the gray plastic part that makes up the bottom of the spoiler and where the black paint/clearcoat begins.

#3 - They did a shitty job cleaning up the rim scuff. Looks like someone took a blowtorch to it. Finish is rough and does not match the rest of the wheel.

They offered me an altima, a charger (???) or a beetle. I said, "Is the beetle the 2nd most embarassing car to drive that you have here" and the guy nodded so off I went.

It's not even the TT beetle, it's the 2.5l base wheee

You have a right to nitpick, the car is brand new.

#1 - Spray some silicon lubricant spray on a rag and rub it into all the moldings. If the stick feels more mechanical then it might be the striker plate is slightly out of alignment. If the glass is catching on the door trim then try the window reset procedure.

#3 - If it is not to your satisfaction then I would demand they repaint the entire rim.

This is exactly what it felt like. I left the car there - let me do a quick search on the window reset procedure here and I'll give them a call. Had no idea such a thing even existed o_O

Any time power is removed, i.e. battery disconnected, then the windows will need to be reset.

The procedure is simple, put the car to On position (no need to start).
Window down all the way, hold 5 seconds, up all the way, hold 5 seconds and you should get a flash or a beep (don't remember).

Just got off the phone with the body shop writer.

#1 - He said he'd give the window reset procedure a shot.

#2 - Also said the spoiler issue was definitely visible and if they can't fix it, they'll have to replace the whole front bumper which is pretty hilarious and also sad. Said it appears to have something to do with small plastic rivets on that dark gray piece (air flow something) that attaches to the front spoiler but they're fiddling with it now.

#3 - Also he said "the rim looks like sh-t". They're calling the wheel company out to look at it today and if they can't fix it to the point where it looks perfect, they're not even going to bother repainting it, they're just going to give me a brand new wheel.

#2 and #3 sounds good! not sure if the window reset will fix the sticking feel on #1. as chris mentioned above, i too suggest you put a very light coat of BlackWow or any silicon based dressing on the seal when you get the car back.

if your car's a hobby car and rarely see rain, you can use waterbased products like Aerospace303 and PrimaNero on the seals. that's wat i use, actually on my cars. no sticking windows.

Update:

-Window reset did in fact cure the door sticking issue.
-Wheel is being replaced
...

...

-Aaaaand now it's looking like the whole front spoiler assembly + "air diffuser" piece beneath it are going to have to be replaced. They messed with it all day and eventually called me and said, "so uh, we're going to call your insurance company again".

It's the beetle for me.

They are replacing parts instead of repairing, I think it is the best solution.

Yeah both the shop and my insurance agreed up front that any "broken" parts would be replaced and not repaired with new factory OEM gear. Didn't look like there was any damage to the front-end at the time of the wreck but you'd think they'd have noticed that the two parts weren't mating properly when putting it back together.
