You may have more luck in the tech section. My understanding is once its locked there's not much you can do and it can only be disabled when unlocked. You'll likely have to buy a new one to get it unlocked then disable it.

I removed my fuse last month for this precise reason. I think you are screwed if the wheel is already locked. You need to pull the fuse when it is unlocked and the starter button is in ACC mode. Everyone with a 2009 should do this right away.

Ok, so the car ran just fine took it to a shop to paint rear bumper, at the shop stayed parked for about one week battery died so decided to push it thinking its just the battery and everything will be fine when Ill get new one, when i did, everything dead just the yellow ligth warning key coming up, im thinking it might be because i forced to turn the steering wheel when it was off and broke something that has to do whith the wheel, but i have no idea what if thats the case, let me know asap if you can help, thank you !

Thank you! Vichtz I know I have the two options to either cut the brown wire or take out the fuse, but I cant do either because I got stranded and my car is completely dead.

yeah unfortunately if your steering lock failed, and it sounds like it is, you are sol. Call the tow truck and get it replaced. Hope you have the extended warranty?

I have an 09 that hasn't failed yet, can you link me or post more information on this? So you're saying if I pull some fuse, it will prevent the steering lock from working entirely, so that it won't lock when the car is off? Or what do you mean? I want to take steps to ensure I don't get stranded.
