4th July nightmare :(((( Wrecked Z

My worst nightmare came true on 4th July. My car was parked at a house party when at around 11:30 pm some kid comes flying down the road and smashes into my car!! My Z is not even 2 months old with less then 3000 miles on the clock. These past 2 days have been so stressful I cant even look inside my garage cause I know my Z is not in there. I busted my a$$ for over a year to be able to get my dream car to just have some kid take it away from me. If you guys can take a look at the pics and tell me what you think, do you think it should be totaled? From what i can see is that the entire rear suspension is gone, both axels are snaped, 3 rims are ruined brake lines gone and the obvious body parts... thank god for insurance though.

I'm so sorry to see that. Good luck, man.

HKYStormFront 07-06-2012 12:32 PM

the problem is, being brand new, despite the subframe (and possibly more) damage, it probably won't be totaled. the good news is that shops with digital frame machines are better than ever at fixing cars damaged like this. hope it goes well for you, sorry it happened man :(

Alchemy 07-06-2012 12:35 PM

Sorry to hear, bro. That really sucks. Hope everything gets sorted out for you.

homeryansta 07-06-2012 12:35 PM

uh.... I wouldn't want a car that has been hit. Take the check and run. What kind of car was this kid driving?

HKYStormFront 07-06-2012 12:37 PM

if you do keep the car, make sure you get a depreciated value compensation (check) for the difference in value between a clean title and one showing a wreck in it's history

ts-c63 07-06-2012 12:37 PM

I dont want the car to be fixed either! he was driving a ford focus

my truck got hit-and-run 4 weeks after i bought it brand new, granted it's not worth as much nor my dream car, but i feel your pain. as long as the car gets fixed correctly (seriously, be anal about, find friends that do body work for 3rd party inspections of the work as it is done) and that you get compensated for the disparity in value it now will have compared to how it was. if it's fixed correctly it will be good as new, just with the extra weight of that coin in your pockets ready to spend on mods

jayl 07-06-2012 12:44 PM

this is v sad. good thing is you werent physically hurt when this happened.

I know the feeling. :( GL!

dmhenderson 07-06-2012 03:58 PM

Bad day for '12 Zs... Driving to a BBQ on the 4th and a deer ran out of the woods and hit my car right above the left front fender. Entire left side of the car is a disaster, windshield shattered etc.

It's with my body shop guy now (specializes in Z cars)

dmhenderson 07-06-2012 03:58 PM

Also broke my hand punching the dash in the aftermath.
"ha ha"

864Zbeast 07-06-2012 04:01 PM

Oh my! That's awful!

dmhenderson 07-06-2012 04:18 PM

The cop that showed up to haul the dead deer off of the road during the aftermath allowed us to drink the beer we had in the back earmarked for the BBQ while waiting for the flatbed to show up. To quote the cop, "Well technically no, it's not allowed but **** if I were you I'd have already been drinking"

birdmanx1 07-06-2012 04:28 PM

Wow, hurts to look. I feel bad for you OP, some stupid foolish kid. Don't feel bad turning down the insurance offer if they try to cheap you out. There was a great advice made about depreciated value; that could be worth looking into.

DMHenderson, sorry to hear buddy. You should add that broken arm to the insurance bill ... I would ;)

Nah, that's my "idiot tax".

Oh well, at least I get to have that bird bomb clearcoat scuff I've been fuming over removed.

Edit: Angled to have the car piece-part repainted in black cherry but my shop said they couldn't justify it.

Nismo89 07-06-2012 05:01 PM

It's always sad to hear this happen to a fellow Z guy, let alone car guy. Hope he's paying for it all . How old was this guy?

onzedge 07-06-2012 05:19 PM

Hang in there man. I hope everything works out.

ts-c63 07-06-2012 05:21 PM

Thanks for the support guys and the kid from what I was told is 18 years old

UNKNOWN_370 07-06-2012 05:23 PM

Sh1t sux, lost my 09 to a wreck. There seems to be enough damage for a possible total. It really just depends on your insurance company. I wish you well. And don't feel so bad about the car. The best part is that you weren't in it but you still got the guys insurance. You're paid bro, regardless.

Waiz 07-06-2012 05:33 PM

Oh man, I'm sorry to see this happen to you OP

Don't sweat it, hopefully you have good insurance and can just get another one

as much as this sux's big dog balls, I agree here. You could be spending the next year in the hospital or worse. Remember that the insurance companies hire people to save them $, so let your insurance company deal with them and don't settle for less than you think you should be getting to replace the ride if totaled. Remember, you had to work to save for a year, so don't let them just take it away.

In the end some things work out I guess! Too bad the shop couldn't justify the extra cost.

Old enough to be smacked silly. Sometimes, I wish we were in a third world country... I've witnessed things like this get settle in the streets before the insurance company gets involved... You see what I mean?

rhd 07-06-2012 05:59 PM

Bad deal dude, at least YOU are OK. That would make me crazy! The most important thing is your alright and will live to drive another kicka** ride someday soon.

Let us know how it goes.

ts-c63 07-06-2012 06:36 PM

I'm just waiting for the police report to be ready and then I can get the ball rolling.. Rule number one guys park as far away from and human contact as possible !!! I learned the hard way :( ... I didn't even get to do a dounut in the car yet!
