Haha that's what the insurance rental got me while my Z is in the shop. A 2011 brown CUBE.
I hate it more than I can possibly tell you.

Edit: Seriously, it's a cube.

Versa_Drifter 07-10-2012 12:30 AM

So sorry to hear that. Hope you get a new Z. Still working for my Z

370redline 07-10-2012 09:53 PM

I know how you feel man! My 350Z was totaled last year on the 4th. It looks like your suspension was damaged pretty badly. So no matter how good the repair job is, it will never handle as good as it use to. I wish you luck with getting everything sorted out. You will look at this a year from now and it think of it as just a speed bump.

wongk3 07-11-2012 11:02 AM

Im sorry to hear about this, just went from an Altima to a Z and I know EXACTLY what youre talking about.

I actually drove the Altima for a road trip this past weekend and I cant even begin to tell you how horrible it was going up hill (3 passengers+full trunk).

Get your Z back ASAP! :)

RCZ 07-12-2012 02:33 PM

this may seem insensitive, but im looking for a transmission for my z. any chance this one still works?

HKYStormFront 07-12-2012 02:39 PM

how did the exhaust removal go?

it went better then I expected, was able to take off the cans and mid pipe but no luck on the Ypipe :(. The Y pipe was not letting go and I didnt want to kill myself trying to take it off being that the car was only being held up by a jack and two jack stands.

HKYStormFront 07-12-2012 02:52 PM

yea... when it doubt, pull out :ugh2:

kenchan 07-12-2012 03:09 PM

yah, honestly if you're working under the car with no impact driver and feel uncomfortable, get the f- out of there.

kenchan 07-12-2012 03:45 PM

lol!!

ts-c63 07-12-2012 04:46 PM

Hahah and pull out is exactly what I did.. I'm so happy I didn't get test pipes a week earlier cause there was no way I would of been able to or even tired to take those off with simple hand tools.. P.s the rubber hangers wouldn't move either so I sliced through them with a blade haha easiest part of the job

kenchan 07-12-2012 04:48 PM

lol at cutting hangers. that's the first time ive heard anyone remove exhaust in such effective/speedy manner!

I just went to go look at the car again at the yard its being held at to check out the damage in detail more. All I have to say is I do not want this car to be fixed the!! I looked under the mats and stuff in the trunk at the floor is all twisted... He hit my car so hard that he knocked my rear springs off! My rear springs were in the front seat of the car along with what looked like my control arms and camber arms. Can you guys tell me what will happen with my exhaust? I bought it off a fourm member so I dont have a invoice or anything for it. Do you think insurance will pay for a new exhaust system?

Something similar has happened to me 2 weeks ago where my nismo was hit parked at the gym parking lot. Again another 18 year kid doing god knows what and hit the rear of my car while I was inside the gym. Its not as bad but still it came out to 10k for total damages including my ark exhaust which got bent. In that case where theres an aftermarket part the insurance will replace it with the oem unit. When the adjuster guy showed up to evaluate the supplement, my body shop guy told him that since this is the after market exhaust I will need the entire oem catback system. And he went for it and approved it.
The total for oem nismo catback is $3182 which Ill be picking tomorrow from my body shop guy. So Ill be buying another Ark and the rest is going for the mods Ive been planing to do in the future but get to do it now. Also I was told by the adjuster I definitely have a claim for diminished value compensation so you should make sure to get that too.
Your stock exhaust would be ~$1500 so the top speed would pay its self off unless your car will be totaled then I dont think it would matter anyways. But nonetheless I wish my nismo was never hit and Im sorry to hear that something similar has happened to you. Best of luck
BTW I also got altima hybrid that Ill be rocking for at least another 2 weeks while the car getting fixed :/

Update: My Z was taken today from the yard where it has be kept since the wreck and was transfered to a salvage yard. An assesment of the damage should be done either today or monday. I then will be waiting on my insurance to let me know what will happen next.

This has to be the most annoying process ever!! More annoying is that when I was driving the Z I would never seen any nice cars on the roads to mess around with, but now that im in the Altima I see something sick all the time. Last night I saw a pack of 350s and 370s on the highway rolling together :( this sucks!!!

the_student 07-13-2012 05:15 PM

My first Z was totaled and no it wasn't my fault lol. But mine had a little less damage than what yours appears to be. Hopefully they total yours. Mine was only a year and a half old at that time.

Believe me, I understand. I saw a 40th today and started to wave and then remembered I'm driving a brown Cube.

That was me the other day! Haha I'm feeling ok though now my cousin just left for a vacation and he left me his C63 AMG for few days so this 530hp animal will keep me happy till I get my Z back

dmhenderson 07-13-2012 07:47 PM

I'm leaving for the beach next Fri. Really upset that I'm not going to be able to take the Z down but I'm sure I'll have plenty to keep me occupied until I return. Car will be done the day I get back.

Hopfully by next week my insurance lets me know what the deal is (Hopfully totaled) my dealer is already trying to find me anther PW Z in the same exact specs.

dmhenderson 07-13-2012 08:01 PM

Or you could always take the cash and snag a '13 when they become available. Are you going to sue the dickhead kid? I don't even know what you can sue for but if I were you I'd want his pound of flesh.

I honestly don't know how I feel about the '13! One second I like it next second I don't... I think it's the rims that are throwing me off I have to see them in person

dmhenderson 07-13-2012 08:26 PM

Yeah I like the 11-12 rims better than the '13 but that's just me. Lots of people love the new rims plus those red calipers are sharp as hell. I'd trade my gray nismo calipers for red ones in a heartbeat.

ts-c63 07-21-2012 12:20 PM

so im pretty pissed off at this point, my car is not totaled  .. both insurance companies checked the car out and said the same thing that it is "repairable"... so now the process of fixing the car should start next week it is being shipped to my Nissan dealer hopfully by Monday or Tuesday. I honestly just want the car to feel and look the same. The one thing im worried about is them having a hard time matching the paint, being that its PW. Hopfully have the car back in a few weeks.

Fix it, Sell it, Start Over... not an easy scenario, but you'll never be satisfied with it knowing it is a fixed vehicle. There will be some monetary loss no doubt. I always wonder what I would do if I am in that situation. That is my answer to myself... :shakes head:

ts-c63 07-21-2012 01:03 PM

im not taking that car back till its perfect.. the day they call to come pick up the car I am driving it around the block if I feel or see anything wrong with it I will make them take it back in.

Alexshen1 07-21-2012 02:08 PM

pw is the hardest paint to match gl man. i did it many times Nd it wont be perfecct

I thought about that a year and half ago, but my car drives and feels like before the accident. I put it to the paces on the Mountains of West Virginia and the Dragon at ZdayZ this year.

They match the paint perfectly on my MB, I tell people and they don't believe me until I show them the pics.

Anyway your car should be fix to factory Specs with lifetime warranty if you have a good Body Shop and Insurance.

If it is not fix to your satisfaction deal with your Ins. Company and Body Shop if is still not right then get rid off the car.

Good advice. I wrecked my 350 (not my fault). It ended up being about $1000 short of being totaled. The repairs I got were very well done but just knowing what it had been through, I never really felt the same about it. I'd find small imperfections while I was detailing it - even months later.

I keep it for a little over a year after that and ultimately traded it in on the 370. To my surprise, it never came up at the dealer when I traded it in. I ended up getting $500 over top KBB trade value for it and $300 over invoice on the 370 (most of that to cover shipping from another dealer).

Fix it, sell it (or trade it) and get a new one. You'll be glad you did.
