Hate to say but that car is definately repairable! There's a very good chance your insurance will pay to fix that, although, it would be smart to file a DV claim as others are saying and sell that thing shortly after its fixed.

My god this sucks... so sorry man. My guess is that it's very unlikely they total it. Most insurance companies won't total a car unless it's about 70% (or more) of the value of the car to repair it.

I have to admit, it doesn't look great. That kind of damage has probably destroyed the rear subframe and possibly the chassis frame rails. If it's not a salvage title, have body specialists seam weld the entire chassis and place reinforcement everywhere. A friend of mine wrapped his WRX around a tree, got a salvage title, then went to the body shop and basically told them to slap on a hundred pounds of reinforcement. Car drove as stiffly as a road racer.

That said, hopefully that kid gets what's coming to him. What an idiot. Hitting a parked car?! Seriously?

I just went to go look at the car again at the yard its being held at to check out the damage in detail more. All I have to say is I do not want this car to be fixed the!! I looked under the mats and stuff in the trunk at the floor is all twisted... He hit my car so hard that he knocked my rear springs off! My rear springs were in the front seat of the car along with what looked like my control arms and camber arms. Can you guys tell me what will happen with my exhaust? I bought it off a fourm member so I dont have a invoice or anything for it. Do you think insurance will pay for a new exhaust system?

dunno what to tell you about the exhaust but if what you are saying about the car is true (and i don't doubt it), it's probably totaled, or should be

just by the pics alone it looked like a total. Now with the description of the twisted floor. I'm 99% positive it will be totalled out. If not? Get new insurance. My car had similar damage but to the front. I had over $22000 in damage due to the frame being bent. My car was totalled out. Then I went and got an 11 Z 4 months later.

Good luck bro.

Something similar has happened to me 2 weeks ago where my nismo was hit parked at the gym parking lot. Again another 18 year kid doing god knows what and hit the rear of my car while I was inside the gym. Its not as bad but still it came out to 10k for total damages including my ark exhaust which got bent. In that case where theres an aftermarket part the insurance will replace it with the oem unit. When the adjuster guy showed up to evaluate the supplement, my body shop guy told him that since this is the after market exhaust I will need the entire oem catback system. And he went for it and approved it.
The total for oem nismo catback is $3182 which Ill be picking tomorrow from my body shop guy. So Ill be buying another Ark and the rest is going for the mods Ive been planing to do in the future but get to do it now. Also I was told by the adjuster I definitely have a claim for diminished value compensation so you should make sure to get that too.
Your stock exhaust would be ~$1500 so the top speed would pay its self off unless your car will be totaled then I dont think it would matter anyways. But nonetheless I wish my nismo was never hit and Im sorry to hear that something similar has happened to you. Best of luck
BTW I also got altima hybrid that Ill be rocking for at least another 2 weeks while the car getting fixed :/

I would say I would beat that kids ***, but judging from the picture it looks he flipped his car.

Are you even allowed to park on the shoulder of that road? That could hurt you in terms of what you pay for insurance after you get settled.

Yes where I parked was completely legal.. The entire block was filled with parked cars, but I was the only one hit lucky me

That's hard to say. Every kit could be different. I know mine is 14mm. But take 12mm through 17mm. I think you will be safe.

some insurance will cover the aftermarket parts if you send them the receipt. might as well just get a new unit since the exhaust could be bent out of shape.. especially the hangers.
