If that were my car, I would want it to be totaled.

Even with the sophisticated digital frame machines and high tech whatever, that Z will never drive or be the same.

Take the loss, be grateful you weren't in the car when it happened, get paid by insurance, and buy a new car.

I have to admit, it doesn't look great. That kind of damage has probably destroyed the rear subframe and possibly the chassis frame rails. If it's not a salvage title, have body specialists seam weld the entire chassis and place reinforcement everywhere. A friend of mine wrapped his WRX around a tree, got a salvage title, then went to the body shop and basically told them to slap on a hundred pounds of reinforcement. Car drove as stiffly as a road racer.

That said, hopefully that kid gets what's coming to him. What an idiot. Hitting a parked car?! Seriously?

I just went to go look at the car again at the yard its being held at to check out the damage in detail more. All I have to say is I do not want this car to be fixed the!! I looked under the mats and stuff in the trunk at the floor is all twisted... He hit my car so hard that he knocked my rear springs off! My rear springs were in the front seat of the car along with what looked like my control arms and camber arms. Can you guys tell me what will happen with my exhaust? I bought it off a fourm member so I dont have a invoice or anything for it. Do you think insurance will pay for a new exhaust system?

I would say I would beat that kids ***, but judging from the picture it looks he flipped his car.

Are you even allowed to park on the shoulder of that road? That could hurt you in terms of what you pay for insurance after you get settled.

dunno what to tell you about the exhaust but if what you are saying about the car is true (and i don't doubt it), it's probably totaled, or should be

Yes where I parked was completely legal.. The entire block was filled with parked cars, but I was the only one hit lucky me

Not all states allow you to claim this.

That's hard to say. Every kit could be different. I know mine is 14mm. But take 12mm through 17mm. I think you will be safe.

:iagree: just by the pics alone it looked like a total. Now with the description of the twisted floor. I'm 99% positive it will be totalled out. If not? Get new insurance. My car had similar damage but to the front. I had over $22000 in damage due to the frame being bent. My car was totalled out. Then I went and got an 11 Z 4 months later.

Good luck bro.

kenchan 07-09-2012 03:27 PM

some insurance will cover the aftermarket parts if you send them the receipt. might as well just get a new unit since the exhaust could be bent out of shape.. especially the hangers.

I bought the exhaust off a forum member here so I wil not get the full amount for a new exhaust.. So I will try my luck with the old system

ahhh, in this case definitely get it off the car. GL with getting the Z totalled so you can get a fresh undamaged one.

ts-c63 07-09-2012 03:52 PM

You guys have no clue how much it sucks going from a car like the Z to driving a Altima :(.. Never realized how long some cars take to get to 60mph
