I just watched the Super GT race from Sepang and there is a BRZ running in the GT300 class. It held off an Audi R8 for the last ten laps of the race. For those not familiar Super GT is the Japanese version of DTM, except much more exciting.
The GT300 class is the smaller of two, with GT500 being the big boys. In any case the 300 class is limited to 300HP so obviously the BRZ is no where near stock. It is a very sophisticated series Others in it's class include the Lambo Gallardo, Ferrari 430, BMW Z4 and a bunch of 911s, among others. The 911 won....BRZ was something like 9th. Not bad in a field of about 20-25 cars. The Z used to run in both classes but now Nissan sticks with GTRs. |
I'll prolly get one as a daily driver!

I'm going to report everyone in here to the DMV

Hard to say if the FR-S is better than (>) the 370z. 200 hp > 332 hp ?! No.

I think the car is meant for the 25 years old initial d fan who never saw the hochiroku new

It should have more grip. They put tiny tires on the brz to keep it fun.

Why not a daily driver? Gotta work to get in & out of the car, seats not really all that comfortable, interior looks cheap, car is light weight & firm so you feel all the potholes & bumps. My idea of a daily driver includes some comfort and fun to drive personality. The BRZ/FRS only has the latter. |
I just read a "Motor Trend" article on six cars and the top two results were, #2 FRS, #1 BRZ. Two great cars similar to a Miata. But the Z is an upgrade in performance and amenities.

I don't take the opinions of those magazines seriously. Or else I would have never bought a 370z. |

Sounds like my guesstimation was right. Sounds like the perfect car for puerto rico. |
15 pages in 2 days. :wtf2:

I guess I need a test drive. I have been on the ft86 forum and found that the GT86 cost as much as the base model Z in US.

Ha ur so right. Remember the C&D article between the Camaro RS and genesis coupe 3.8. The gencoupe wiped the camaro all over the floor and flushed the camaro down the toilet in performance. But the camaro won the comparo for Gotta have it factor. Yeeeaaah Right. As far as the Z goes... they have really found a way to make the Z sound like a POS in many a article. Maybe it does suck to need almost $2,000 to be track ready. But track readiness aside. As a road package and handling package. Nothing with this much power compares imho. |
BRZ is so slow that you don't need to spend the $2K to beat it....

About a second slower than a JDM Gymkhana spec 370Z. Not bad for ~130hp less. |
i never thought i would say this...
i think im starting to miss the mustang fanboy threads... |

The youtube video that I see people everywhere linking/quoting.. was the 370 just kinda chilling out at the beginning?
According to the Subaru website.. the BRZ does 0-60 in (surprisingly slow to me) 8.4 seconds. The Z apparently ranges from 4.7 to 5.5-ish seconds. How does the BRZ in the video get to the first corner 'before' the Z? If anything the Z should be a good 1 or more car spots ahead. The main place the Z would smoke the BRZ would be on straights, and the only straight in the course was in the BRZ's favour? |
honestly gymikana just looks too damn silly.
