Wow, you guys must have some serious ninja hearing going on, because the only thing i hear is loud music or road noise with the occasional pebble pinging off the inside of the fender hehe

(I'm not complaining, if i wanted a quiet ride I would have bought something else)

I tried to listen for it but could not hear it.

Then you don't have it, this is not a sound you have to listen for. The techs at Nissan hear it as soon as they start to move the car.

I think the sound is coming from inside the engine bay, it sounds like it is emitting from underneath the intake/engine cover.
I had the hood open today and had someone in the car while it was running, when they turned the car off, the sound continued for about 2-3 seconds.
Try it and you'll see what I mean. It's a constant hi-pitched sine wave sound though. I originally thought this was coming from some electrical component behind the dash, now it seams like it is from the engine bay, and I'm just hearing it coming through the dash.

I don't seem to have it either so there are at least two of us without the problem...

This is exactly what I have as well, and seems to be the same sound all the
G37 owners were complaining about also. You can't really hear it when the car is running and you're driving, so if this is indeed what he is hearing, he has a much louder version than we do.

Put the ignition switch on (without starting the car) and make sure the car is in gear (manual) and you can hear the noise coming from the engine bay. Putting the car into neutral stops it so that should be a hint as to what is causing it.

Wrong, the sound only happens when the car is under power. As soon as the car stops the sound stops. If your parked and rev the car up you hear the sound. The sound does not change with RPMs, it's either on or off.

It must be two different problems or it acts differently in the automatic.

Whatever is causing your issue is not the same high pitched sound we have all identified then. Ours is faint, coming from under the engine cover, dates back to the G37, fades out when you turn the engine off after about 2 or 3 seconds, and cannot be heard once the car is running.

Yep, tried this, and this is exactly what it's doing. It's weird when you put it in neutral it goes away. Maybe something to do with Syncro Rev Match???

I'm going to dealer next tuesday to have them replace a door panel that split, I'll have them look at this as well.

The sound is so high pitched and loud you have no problem hearing it when you are driving at freeway speeds with the radio on.
