There's GST, PST, 6.1% duty, inspection, daytime running lights (if it doesn't have it) and transportation. So the general rule of thumb is to take the US price and multiply it by 20-25% and that's your price landed in your driveway.

You have to pay taxes anyway so that can be deleted from your equation. Yes, you do pay the duty of 6.1%. As for transportation, make a holiday out of it. I think your rule of thumb is a bit high. There is a car dealer here in Halifax who sells a lot of late model high performance cars. Brings them in from the States. So it still must be viable to import and save money. Just sayin'.
