steering lock cb pull and 0-60 pull acomplishment
Here is what I did... it turned out to be yet another magic Z moment!
I finally pulled my steering lock circuit breaker (09 sport). The steering wheel doesn't do its pre-start dance anymore and the car starts with no delay. I must say getting the fuse box out was more challenging than I had envisioned reading all your posts, but was definitely do-able. Also I broke one of my little plastic trim rivets. :( and dropped a pocket knife down into my engine bay which came to rest on my lower plastic engine cover. getting that out was harder than the cb pull as I was at a buddies house. (no jack stands to get under there) I had to drive around a crappy part of town looking for a high enough curb to prop up a wheel so I could wiggle under the car to unscrew my cover. A couple very helpful prostitutes came up to ask if I was okay and one offered to join me under the car. I don't think she was too good with tools (not the kind I was trying to employ anyhow) so I politely refused, finished my business and did my best ever 0-60 time departing the area!!!! Woo Hoooo! Personal best 0-60 pull and a successful engine control mod all in one night. |

Here's how my day went. I woke up early to head down the highway to meet up with a detailing buddy who had a job at a friends garage. He called me the night before to prepare me for the ultimate man's garage. Sounded good, but really I was just interested in taking the Z for a drive and having some adult interaction.
On my way to the ultimate garage I stopped to pick up coffee for everyone. As I step out of the coffee shop I see this parked front and centre. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5339/7...e06cb1de_z.jpg IMG_1784 by J M Gale, on Flickr He started to pull out as I was leaving, I gave him a thumbs up and he reciprocated. He was behind me as we were getting on the highway, but not for long. The owner mashed that little pedal on the right and I was in awe of hearing such a beautiful symphony and watching the McLaren fly past me. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7093/7...190df8f5_z.jpg IMG_1785 by J M Gale, on Flickr Shortly after that treat I made it to my destination and was in awe. I didn't get a chance to see it with the cover off today because the box for the old Mercury was under it. I don't know why, but I had this feeling Mr.onzedge was watching over us, http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8012/7...fef56e1d_z.jpg IMG_1788 by J M Gale, on Flickr Soon, some of the garage owners friends showed up, http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7087/7...0eccd971_z.jpg IMG_1786 by J M Gale, on Flickr The Mustang was owned by a 70 year old dude. Hey guys... back from my day at the beach. I have two broken cars now.
Right after I paid the toll for the Bay Bridge I went to put the driver window back up... SNAP. The cable that lifts the glass snapped in half... so the glass just falls right down into the door now. I'm waiting on parts for the 5.0 (working on it next Saturday) and now I have to check to see if my Honda Care extended warranty covers the window cable or if I need to do it myself. Left it in my parent's garage and borrowed one of their cars temporarily.   I might buy that 5 series after all. Gotta have three cars in case two are broken. |

Oh, the window broke on the way to the beach. It was 7am so the only place open was Walmart... stopped there to get a small tool kit. Took the driver door panel off to see if I could do any on the fly repair. Nope! Picked up a cheap car cover just so I could keep crap out of the car while I left it parked all day.

So my MIL's car got messed up a couple of weeks ago (long story) and I've been driving her around while it's in the shop getting fixed. I quickly found out that she does NOT like going fast. The first time I took the clover leaf exit off the highway at 70 mph I had to slow down because she screamed so loud I thought she was going to pee my car seat. She's gotten a bit more used to it, so this video doesn't do her justice, but it's still entertaining :)
