Hey all! :hello:

Taking a long weekend and driving down with the little lady to Miami! No...we're not taking the Z. Anytime we hit the road it's in the Xterra as I do not want to put the excess miles on the Z. Have a great day all and I'll check in when I can!

The new Car and Driver Magazine has a test/review of 10 performance summer tires and guess which one came out in first place. Can you guess? Which one was it....? Hmmmm...

Right -- the Pilot Super Sport.

m4a1mustang 06-29-2012 08:33 AM

I need to check that article out.

m4a1mustang 06-29-2012 08:35 AM

I'm really depressed at the thought of selling the 5.0 and DDing the S2000 right now. I know the extra cash would be helpful for a house, but I don't know if it's needed. I guess I need to run the numbers.

The numbers would also be offset by a lot of expenses I'd need to shell out on the S2000 to bring it up to my daily driving standards. Enkeis + PSS, Konis, sway bars, hard top for winter, etc.

You've all been rep'd... Except for Mr.onzedge, it said I had to spread my rep around. I'll get you in the next wave.

Sell the S2K, keep the Stang, buy a house?

m4a1mustang 06-29-2012 08:40 AM

But if I am going to do this on the basis of saving money for a house the S2K is the more economical car. Also I have owned the 5.0 for over two years now, which is insane.

yah, i would run the numbers first before making any drastic changes. :)

i usually make a spreadsheet, work on it for a week or two, think about it some more, then stick a move.... and dont look back. coulda woulda is too late now. :icon17:

I am installing my new/replacement rear PSS tomorrow. I was hoping to get more miles out of them -- oh well. Their performance makes up for the lack of longevity.

BTW: in the test, the Pole Position S04 was a close second to the PSS.

Ok, new plan. Sell both, get something new and a house. win-win

Or, take the bus to work and buy a house. :bowrofl:

Nah, I think I'd be fine DDing either. S2K is still really fun. Yeah it is a lot slower than the 5.0 but it's still really fun to drive. It's not like I'm stuck in a Corolla or something. Plus thinking about my own garage with a lift gives me big hard on. :bowrofl:

Aww you guys make me feel all special and junk. :D

Did I mention I love the handling on our cars? Had to slam on the brakes to avoid rear ending a Stang and switched lanes with ease. Funny thing was that he almost rear ended another Stang. Nothing like flying past them in a Z and being a girl. :p

sounds good, mr. onzedge! for me if i can get 10K miles im happy. the DW's are lasting too long. it's like mediocre tasting bottomless soup. :ugh2:

yah, the S04's are killer tires. i run them on my G and very happy with them. they are very sticky dry or wet, and look probably the best out of all of them in this category. only downside... weight. it's 31lbs vs 26lbs PSS. it's fine for dd and most street, but i like my footing light.

I think its great that people are careful about the miles they put on their cars, but I'm not sure I have the self control to not drive a bad a$$ car sitting in my garage. I'm pretty sure when we get my wife a new car, we will still take the Z on most of our road trips  I'd love to hit 200K miles in the Z someday :driving: I had a 1988 Pathfinder last until 227K when a freaking Geo Metro managed to take it out of commission, and I had a 1999 CRV with 210K that I gave to a cousin for her high school graduation a few years ago.

Texas drivers... :shakes head: :icon17: Nice maneuver, Tracie  Did you give them one of these :ugh2: when you passed them?

On a sour note, I am home sick again. Will be working on some overdue reports today.

I think I actually had a grin on my face while I had the accelerator floored and passing them. Though I wish I would have looked over to see their faces. One swooped behind me and was trying to ride my ***.

Get to feeling better JAR!

Today is her last day at her job, and we've got so many events coming up in the next month that the new car has taken a bit of a back seat, which happens to be one of our requirements. :icon17: It keeps coming up randomly in conversation, though. At this point she's decided to sacrifice on the car for something that's cheaper and more economical (more saving and spending $$$ is always good). We are thinking a $250 lease payment on something around $25K would be ideal. Of course, the accountant is way more fiscally responsible, as everything I suggest hits 30-35K with options and quickly becomes a $400-500 monthly payment. The Acura ILX recently caught her eye, and I had never heard of it. Seems a bit weak imo, but the styling isn't bad, Acura's aren't too bad, and the base model will still be a little more premium than a Honda or something. Any input is always welcome.
