No Z action today but tomorrow got a club cruise through some twisties in the mountains and then off to a Time Attack/Lapping night.
So I will prep the car tonight and figure out a great GoPro location...finally get to use this thing lol

Oh, wife upgraded and got this thing. We realized the 3 series is not all that big and our 8 month old is a big boy lol.

X5 with M Package 19 wheels (I convinced her on the wheels) She is loving it and feels like a "gangsta".

You have to really work for it, here. I drive almost 20 miles to get to a short stretch of barely-used smooth road with a few low-speed tight corners. Or, there's always the city's racetrack - I465; plenty of ramps. But always populated. Not a great idea. :shakes head:

I was in Austin a few years back. The south side on the way to Fredericksburg looked sort of interesting. Made me wish I had my Z, at least. Also drove up on the NW side near some lake if I recall correctly, lots of hills. But the houses back in there all had driveways you'd need a 4wd to get into. :D

davey- in my area it's the same thing. it's mostly straight and a very few areas with a little twisties. but it's okay, the car sounds great and love the dynamics so i still enjoy it. oh, and MT is a must in these boring roads.

kenchan 07-28-2012 11:54 AM

motored my Z this am and was a decent drive. i was pretty tired to begin with and some folks were driving like idiots so that wasn't real nice.

but there's this one section i really enjoy driving and that part was no traffic and smooth. :p also tested out my olympus mic's new setup. not bad, will play with it more tomorrow.

spot QD'ed afterwards. :) some stupid little dog came running and barking at me from behind so that was annoying. was going to kick it but the owner had him on a leash. she didnt say sorry or anything. just ignored and walked away. stupid dog owner.

planning to hook up with my buddy with the xB later on today to see his car.

The Fredericksburg route is kind of boring to me and FULL of cattle guards.

Lime Creek is on that NW side as well as 1431. Both great roads.

Lately I've been enjoying the new toll road 130. 80 mph speed limit and if you know the road well, you can easily get away with a lot more. New section they are opening up down south will be 85 mph.

Anyway, I was cruising at 60ish and I saw someone coming up quickly , I switched to the right lane and we both approached to a red light.

A Porsche, Carrera S cabrio, two fat dude, not young, playing some shitty reggae out loud :shakes head: and to make it worse... I can smell alcohol even from 4 ft away..... :shakes head: :shakes head:

Green light and we both took off, I cruise at 60ish again at 6th :driving:, but I can hear the douchebag in that porsche wanna race cos he was prolly staying at 3rd and yanking the gas.... :shakes head:

I slow down even more thus I was behind him on the same lane cos I have to make a left at the up coming intersection.

About 6 cars length to the intersection and the light was turning red..... I can see that douchebag floor the gas and run the red.... :shakes head: :shakes head:

When he ran across the intersection, the light's been red for about 3 sec.... :icon14:

I stop at the red, and I saw that douchebag stopped at the next red light.. yup... he ran the first but the second one was also red.... :bowrofl:

Then... that selfish animal.... stop at that light for about 8 sec.... ran the red

WTF...... :shakes head:

It's a tick. It sounds like some sort of spinning mechanism inside the gauge cluster isn't sitting right. If I get over 4000rpm it seems to put whatever it is out of whack, the ticking starts, and it won't stop until I dip back down to 2000rpm. It's been doing it since my car was stock, so I know it's none of my parts.

yah, that definitely sounds like a bad tach. should be a easy swap either just the tach module or the entire cluster. :)

talking of repairs, i decided to fix my driver seat bottom today for the popping/slight movement TSB. mine was like this from day one and lately it's gotten a tad worse from wear.

no parts really needed (unless you want to replace the starwashers) and you dont even need to take the SRS harness off; i did the entire repair while seat inside the car. :p

http://www.the370z.com/370z-technica...at-corner.html

i did the door side first while the seat was still mounted to the floor.

the center console side of the seat, i took the seat off the floor, turned it so i had clear access to the starwasher on that side, and pounded the stock washer in further using my impact socket+ adapter. :)

no more popping noise or slight movement of the seat bottom.

OK I had to look this up on Google Maps now. I don't remember what road we were on on the NW side. Isn't that terrible then, that 290/291 actually was exciting by comparison to around me? :rofl2:

But it's just so flat around here they don't have to wind the roads around big chunks of rock or anything, unfortunately. Gotta head toward Ohio or south for that.

hi mr.alcheng- sorry to hear about the nail puncture. :( ive not had a puncture but i did find a short screw stuck in my G's S04 a few weeks ago. but it did not penetrate through so i lucked out. but yah, i would've just plugged it and forgotten about it.

the dog owner was not hot at all. she wasn't fat or anything but just middle aged white woman racist type. :shakes head: you know, the ones that dont talk to asians cause they pre-determine we dont know how to speak english. :gtfo2:
next time i see her, i will tell her dogs make good stew. :yum: :rofl2:

yah, i was suppose to meet up with the guy today but he said he suddenly got called in to work this late am and not done. he's a IT guy so i know how that goes.. so maybe next week. im not in a huge rush to get a xB....lol :icon17:
