Des Moines to Indy and back averaged 26.5 mpg overall (1037 miles) which included a couple of days of city driving in Indianapolis for the Indy 500. {Did not drive to the track for the race.} Not bad for a vehicle with a 3.69 rear end. I would expect the automatics to get better mileage on the highway.
