lol yeah I read over a lot of threads but couldn't find a specific build date they started using the Rev C's. Anyways, I guess whether it's a Rev B or C it's trash. No negative side affects of pulling the fuse other than the car will be easier to hijack?

pretty much

break in, put in neutral, steer the car away, load it up on a flat bed.

good bye Z.

Its gone with or without the lock. Its not in the car anymore starting in late 2011. So the 12 and 13's are completely without. Its not a safety issue either. Its a useless system. Nissan deleted it for good reason.

Lol if they come with a flatbed do you really think the lock would stop them from getting it???
If they want it they will get it. I could put your car on 4 dollies in about 45 seconds and push the car into the middle of the street by myself.

Best way to protect your Z is keeping it in a garage.

i would just take a look under the steering column first to verify you have a steering lock or not before undoing things...

if you have the lock, this would be in your face when you look up.

Good point, guess I'll be pulling the fuse.

It makes it way harder to position the car up the flat bed so yes it does help

Oh and I want to take that 45 sec bet

After reading all the methods of disabling the steering lock I think I'll go with cutting the brown wire. Looks to be the easiest and quickest way, and I really don't care about not being able to put it back to normal. I don't think anyone will notice it either way.

Pull the fuse, no cutting required.

IMO the cutting is easier. I don't think I'll have to worry about voiding the warranty either way.

Just a thought and maybe it's been said before, but have the people with steering lock issues checked their fuses? Probably not the cause, but it's certainly in the realm of possibility for a fuse to blow therby disabling the steering lock in the lock position.

Now, the "good" news is that it died with the lock disengaged, so i can actually move the steering wheel.
I saw that removing the fuse would disable the lock, so i did that. The problem is the car still won't start even though i also disconnected the battery.
Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Because i don't want to shell out 500 bucks for another steering lock that is doomed to fail anyway (car is out of warranty). And i figured since the steering lock is disengaged, might as well just disable the thing for good.

Thanks in advance!

Another one, wow! Why's hasn't Nissan being sued yet?? There has to be some type of law that forces Nissan to recall a part that is malfunctioning on (it seems) every 09/10 370Z's.

It may "help" but it won't stop it from going nite nite. And if they bring a regular hook, doesn't matter which way your wheels are facing. And seriously it's as simple as jacking the car up in the front, then the rear. If you have one of the jacks that lift a car by 2 or 3 pumps, it's VERY doable.

bmarcinczyk14 01-22-2013 05:32 PM

Just checked and my car has the Rev. C. Looks super easy just to disconnect and snip the brown wire, these 0 degree temperatures here in Chicago have postponed the job though. I'll likely end up doing this over the weekend, hopefully the pos will last me until then!
