It was, I kept grabbing the boot but now it has been raised about an 1.5"s and its perfect for me. I dont have any pics of it with the spacer and wont for some time but the nice thing abou the TWM knobs is you can set it at the perfect height for you. It took some playing around with but now the height seems to be more natural and its very easy to shift. Plus in that pic i actually had the boot installed wrong, I had the plastic ring on upside down and it pushed the top of the boot up higher so the neck on the knob was covered up. When I finally realized my mistake, it sat a lot better.

Default My $.02

Just received and installed my Z1 Motorsports "competition style" with "type 1" finisher in polished aluminum to replace my NISMO Carbon Fiber shift knob. The Z1 shift knob is better looking and has a more precise (heavier) throw at 1/2 the price. The NISMO nylon internal sleeve self-tapping thread is a very poor design and doesn't re-thread properly afterwards. (I'm returning it to the local dealer under warranty next week). Good going Z1 !

Fan of the Zele, for those with big hands/long fingers this is your shift knob. As wide as the TK shift knob if you are a top shifter but thick enough for the pistol grip shifters as well, just gets hot as hell during the summer so get some driving gloves.

quick question about shift knobs for a nooooooob

alright, so I know that a short shifter will quite clearly, shorten the throw, making it faster to shift gears because there's less travel. I've then read about various shift knobs, of varying weight, and how people comment on the different feel/feel of throw. for reference, how heavy is the stock Z shifter to an aftermarket product, and how exactly (or as close as possible) does it change shifter feel?

i BELIEVE (someone correct me if im wrong) that the stock z shift knob is about 188 grams. when i switched to a team voodoo pearl knob (175 grams) i noticed that the difference in feel not because the weight of the shifter changed, but because the shift height and the knob material changed. the metal knob definately makes the shifts "feel" more direct. that, coupled with the shift knob height being reduced by about 1/2" really made for a much more aggressive feeling when i am running thru gears.

its little mods like that that will seperate the feeling of driving your car from the feeling of driving any stock z

I like any shift knob that doesn't have the potential to turn my hand into BBQ pork chops.
