Freakin Evos and WRXs...

I've noticed that most of the people who drive Evos and WRXs are the ones who always mess with me. Pretty much at least once a week on the way home from work. They drive next to me and start "blowing off" right next to me. I don't race them of course. It annoying.

Today a black WRX sti went up to my passenger side and was "blowing off". His windows were tinted dark as hell so I couldn't see his face. I wanted to give him the finger, but was afraid he wouldn't stop. My drive home is only about 10-15 mins. This guy was headed the same direction I was going. He kept annoying me the whole way home almost. If I knew he was going annoy me the whole way I should have just gave him the finger from the get go!

Does this happen to anyone else?

bn12151 06-10-2009 02:51 PM

If you cant take someone messing with, or don't know how to just over look it maybe you should just trade for a prius. Life is too short, get over it. Also i wouldn't advise flipping someone off, good way to get shot now days!

zZSportZz 06-10-2009 02:54 PM

Just ignore them really. I literally laugh at them and they know it. I get about 2-3 ricer "fly-bys" per week with their fart cans roaring in the warm summer breeze.

Just get one of these signs and hold it up against your window next time it happens:

I enjoy watching ricers fly by me; especially when I see a cop waiting ahead.

CrownR426 06-10-2009 03:04 PM

Happens all the time bro...
You have to realize that the 370z is the car to beat!
So every ricer on the highways and local streets will try to press your buttons.
Do what I do!
Just smile at them and drive at the speed limit!

Sashimi 06-10-2009 03:05 PM

Yea Evo's and WRX's are the worse, When I had my WRX I would get an evo try to race me almost every week. Recently I've been getting Challengers trying to race me.

I usually ignore them, can't afford tickets.

DIGItonium 06-10-2009 03:07 PM

They're just curious and want to see you gun it so they can hear your car.

That's fine. Someday you might get lucky and they pop their motor. When I had the 350Z, some idiot in a Camaro decided to drive through the left turn lane narrowly missing me on the right lane. I slammed the brakes and got behind him (single lane), and he sped off like a mad man. A few seconds later I drove through a plume of smoke, and then I saw the driver and his friend parked on the side of the road with hazards. White smoke was spewing out from the engine bay and inside the car. The hood was up, and both stared at me with a stupid look as I casually drove by.

I'm definitely getting me one of these babies...

SiXK 06-10-2009 03:17 PM

too funny. for me its mustangs. seems like hardly a few days goes by that some mustang doesn't try to race me. it does not matter if we are at a red light, in heavy traffic, rain, in a funeral procession, whatever - if a ratty mustang with huge ties and a scoop sees me, he is going to get right beside me, rev it up and tear off through traffic half outta control. see it all the time. hilarious.

nogoodname 06-10-2009 03:22 PM

they just want attention, smile and continue driving....not hard to do that

Hmm... A prius huh? Maybe I should, it's faster than an Acura TL... Anyways back at the ranch...

I have one of these stickers. People leave me the hell alone.

Usually I try to be courteous at first and just give the person a thumbs up. In most of the instances, they were just trying to catch my attention. Usually, they roll down their windows and say nice car or something along the lines. If the person is just being an ***, I just stay under the speed limit and just ignore them.

Mental Block 06-10-2009 03:35 PM

When they do that I don't even acknowledge them. Best way to deal with it.

OnCallZ 06-10-2009 03:36 PM

I also have mitsubishis, hondas trying to get me to race, eventually they give up and do their triumphant fly by, I even had an rsx turn his hazards on after he did his fly by :ughdance:
I am not complaining, I knew what I was getting into buying this car :)

I usually ignore them, but for some reason the guy today didn't get the picture. Most of the younger drivers in SD have an ego problem.

axio 06-10-2009 03:39 PM

Yeap, happens to me too except it's guys in BMWs.

Canadian370Z 06-10-2009 03:41 PM

The only problems I have had is with Mustangs. Once a night on the highway it seems to happen.

shabarivas 06-10-2009 03:44 PM

Hey... dont generalize... I had an evo :( but yea... a lot of "kids" tend to own those cars... just as a lot of kids will own 370s in a few years... just the way **** happens man

axio 06-10-2009 03:44 PM

This really isn't as bad, imo, as after you've washed your car and the guy in the suv in front of you decides it'd be funny to squirt you with not only his front windshield wipers for a while, but then decides to use his rear window squirters for 10-15 seconds as well. Some people just hate on guys who drive nice cars, i suppose.

Coicidently, a black STI and a black RSX, both tastefully JDM'd did the same thing to me as I drove my 370 fbrand spanking new from the dealership. The STI did his blow-off showboating thing on my right. I gave him the thumbs up.

The best thing to do is to sandbag it by revving and act like you're getting on it. Then let them accelerate like hell so that the cops (if there are any) nail them. I've done this many times, and I had the last laugh.

Isn't this problematic? Don't the cops get on your case as well for revving aggressively at the line?

It's the "little things" that make life worth living, isn't it? :)

BobDigi5060 06-10-2009 07:08 PM

Yep should be no surprise as these cars are becoming more and more attainable for the younger generation nowadays

Denver isn't so bad. Subarus and VWs are as common as Hondas in some parts of the country. I see a modded WRX/STi/EVO maybe once a week. People seem to be a lot more responsible on the street then compared to where I grew up in Texas. Every Honda, chromed out Maxima and Grand Prix wants to see me go.

CBRich 06-10-2009 07:11 PM

I felt so inferior on the interstate the other day when an early 90's V6 Camaro was revving on me. I knew he would just blow me away if I got on it.

Brazilbro 06-10-2009 07:13 PM

I hate evo drivers.. they think their car is king...

you know whats funny is now that i have a 370 and not the evo i find myself reving on sti's and evos , mustangs , bmw's.. well really anything with 300+.. guess i havnt grown outa my EVO ways

shabarivas 06-10-2009 07:24 PM

LOL yea man... cant deny how fast an evo can be w/ 3k spent on it... but then again... they look like a soap box... but in all honesty - you will absolutely become a crappier driver if you own an evo - the car just does too much driving for you... I noticed that I started SUCKING at controlling my G35 when I used to go for spirited runs while I had my Evo X...

BobDigi5060 06-10-2009 07:27 PM

^^LOL the worst part about it is a few times I ended up taking the bait and give them what they want. These people just want to see you go. Usually all it takes is a nice compliment or thumbs up to get me to start feelin my cheerios. That's when I'll give em a taste of the blood curdling howl of my Subby and it's fart can :icon17:

I've pulled up to a couple C6 Zs who will blow past me for no good reason while I'm minding my business.

Nice to see some of this coaxing rubbing off on you Z drivers for a change. A few years ago I was getting it from all angles lol.

The only thing you'll see me doing when I see a 370 is damn near breaking my neck for a good look :tiphat:

shabarivas 06-10-2009 07:34 PM

Ha ha yea I get that a lot :) even from crazy lambos n stuff... Im like... dude you can buy like 6 of these for one of those... why are you drooling hahah.. but guess an enthusiast is an enthusiast :)

sensi09 06-10-2009 10:31 PM

To be hassled all the time is pain, but honestly I wouldn't mind playing around with an evo or sti once in awhile....but that's just me.

LMAO at the sign

Sashimi 06-11-2009 05:50 AM

I didn't really care for my WRX (mainly since I bought it for reliability and then my engine blew) but what I did like about Subaru's is the subaru community. Whenever I had any problem someone was always there to help me for no charge, and give me information on anything no matter how n00b the issue was. Plus every subaru driver I met in a parking lot was cool, and complemented me on my pretty much stock subaru. I never got that with the Rx7 community, everyone was too busy fixing their own car.

and I'm hoping this community is great too

:iagree:
Thanks for the idea. I'm getting one from Home Depot this afternoon. This stuff happens to me all the time. On occasion, I rev it up to get them hooked and then when the light turns green, I pull off real slow as they blow off the line racing with themselves.

Forumite 06-11-2009 07:10 AM

I've still have not had anyone do that to me in my Z but I get it all the time in my Mustang.

I'm too young and stupid to not accept their invite.
