I might get flamed here, but that's what's fun about owning this car! If I could do a quick little burst with the guy/kid within the speed limit, in a safe area, I'm all in! I even had like a 65-year old guy in a Bimmer M5 get on it next to me. A guy just a bit younger than me pulled up behind me in a nicely-done EVO. I waved, and he smiled and waved back. We both knew we were loving each others' cars and were having fun. That's what's great about these cars, no matter what type you have. It brings out our "inner-kid." I love it. I know even my 70-year old dad loves stoplight racing people to the speed limit safely in his Rover Supercharged. Wait, maybe I get it from my dad! BTW, my pops wants the 2010 Rangie Sport Supercharged with the 510hp V8. I suppose he wants a shot at the Z. He he.

I had to laugh at this comment...:icon17: |
Face it... Every Mustang, Evo, STI, Mercedes, BMW, Nissan, and Civic driver thinks their car is the fastest thing on the road. When I was in the Trans Am, I couldn't go 1 day without someone trying to get me to run them. You buy the newest sports car and EVERYONE's going to want to line 'em up and see how they fair against you.
My favorite dumb line-'em-up time was when I was at a light and a SVT Cobra pulls up next to me. The guy wasn't revving up on me or anything, but he looked like a douche bag. So I didn't like him. LOL Anyway, a cop stops behind the car that was behind him and I noticed it, so I revved at the SVT driver. :D He revved back... Light turned green, he took off like a bat out of hell peeling wheel and I just started driving like Miss Daisy was in the back seat. Obviously, the cop immediately pulled him over. As I drove by him, I was laughing my *** off at him. |

i got a 2003-2004 mustang gt following me on the freeway so i gave him a little taste and he backed down. i usually wouldnt even waste my time but i didnt wanna be late for work . i dont like to waste time on ricers cuz there is no point im more of a corvette or Porsche type of a guy :driving:
|
Funny thread... I get the same treatment from a lot of Z owners.
:stirthepot: |
^^^ I bet. "I just got a fast car. How does it fair up against an Evo?" kind of thing.
I'm about to buy another car and as soon as I get it, I'm sure I'll be looking for you Evo and STI drivers. ;) |
i remember i was in a shopping plaza looking for parking. some dude in a rx7 that was riced out horribly was reving his engine really high when he passed me. no one was behind so i stop rolled down the window and said "you are trying to hard" when he passed me.
|
I do the opposite, I just give people (ricers or nice cars, doesn't matter) the thumbs up. Treat others how you'd want to be treated. If someone rolls their window and asks for a "run" just tell them you're still breaking the car in.. They won't know the difference.

Anyway, I would just take it as a compliment and smile. |

i dont know about anyone here, but, i live in san gabriel valley area of Greater Los Angeles, CA.. and theres always someone in a Scion TC cutting me off and speeding off to the next red light, where i end up right next to him again each and every time... its annoying -___-, i just listen to music and drive like i dont even notice him.
He'll probably brag to his friends, " I smoked a 370z today " =D im just bored, feel free to criticize |
Man for me its mostly Mustangs, usually the older body style. Ricers too, but usually these freakin Stangs. I drive kinda fast anyway because of my job and you just kinda get in the habit of getting where your going. So I'll pass some jack *** who's pokin along and they take it as a personal attack to their fragile egos. Then they want to speed up and ride along side and fly on by. Or my personal favorite is when I'm in a race at a stop light with a guy and I didnt even know it. Light turns annd he burns out. Who knew? I guess thats the old sucker punch race and eventually I catch up to the guy in traffic and just laugh. I had a 3 series before my Z and I thought it was bad then! I run on a lot of these Ricers cause theres a big drifting road here in Austin and these guys come from all around to wreck their rides and I come and take their Fast and Furious *** to the hospital for a fast furious hospital bill. Always a good time!

one of my coworkers is a life-long mustang guy. he wanted to see how the new z compared to his GT with numerous bolt-ons so i took him for a ride to give him a taste. before i was out of second gear, and still within the speed limit he admitted defeat. i later overheard him telling someone else about the ride saying "dude.. i could feel my fat cheeks being pulled back by the G's.. it was badasss... but i still like how my v8 sounds." at least he was honest when he thought i was not around. |
^^^LOL fat cheeks being pulled back! That's funny!

I have already been nuked on these boards for admitting to street racing...not what you might see on TV. But if there are no cops around, no streets that turn into the street ahead, I'm happy to see who is faster. I probably don't go much over the speed limit if at all. I started to feel old reading the post on this board. I am 35 with 2 kids. I am a business owner and I think I am pretty responsible. I would not do something that would put another in harms way. Accelerating at the cars maximum limit to 60 on a clear straight away is not wreckless in my opinion. After all isn't that one of the main reasons this car appeals to us? 0-30, 0-60, 1/4 mi. stats are great to read, and nice to know what our car can do in theory, but reality is more fulfilling. I know the raceway is the ideal place to stretch its legs. I don't know if I speak for many of you but I have never taken my Z to the drags and probably never will. But I will still like to enjoy its acceleration and if another car is next to me enjoying his/her cars acceleration even the better. Again I must disclose...I never race on crowded streets, no cops, no people, no streets that can surprise you with a car pulling in front of you, and never at high speeds. I apologize if I set off a pew pace makers and caused some of you to take your blood pressure medication early, but I just had to speak my mind.

not all evo owners are jerks, some actually drive 370 Z's :-).
|
lol , when i first got my g35 years ago , i used to get a lot of eclipses trying to race me , now that i got my 370 everyone under the sun races past me in normal street drivingg trying to get my attention, its fun to mess with them
|
That's one nice thing to be said about my '01 S4. NO ONE expects it to be fast, and as a result, no one bothers me. If you don't know what to look for, it's just another Audi A4.

WOW I'm shocked I'm not getting hate letters.... |
Funny enough I can't relate! I drove a Z28 for 10 years, and still drive it on weekends and I can count on one hand how many times people 'revved' the engine at me or tried to challenge me. I can't even think of a time it happened as I sit here. Maybe it's because I drive nice and slow?

I know in my Mustang days the last thing I wanted to see in my rear view was an approaching LS1. Still gives me the chills just thinking about it! :icon18: |

I'm still working it out... But my friend has Z06 he's selling me for dirt cheap because he needs the money ASAP. So I figure I already have a Z32, why not get another type of Z. :)
