Can't bring myself to buy a Z
I bought a damn 2004 back when I was making crap money. I got divorced and moved away and ended up buying a 2005 Infiniti G35c MT because I left the Z with the ex wife.
I ended up getting re-married and I sold the G to get a Nissan Sentra in 2007 to make buying a house easier. I now make 4 times the amount of money I did when I bought the 2004 Z, my Sentra is paid off, and I cannot bring myself to buy another car. I have wanted another Z for several years now but for some reason I can't do it. Affording it isn't an issue, it's just the thought of another car note is making me freeze whenever I start searching inventories. I am driving the wife crazy, she wants me to shut the hell up and get one, she's been begging me for a year to finally do it and I won't. What the hell is wrong with me? I am telling myself now I need to wait until 2013 for the changes since I really want a NISMO. I had to vent, thanks guys.:shakes head: Edit. You can look at my join date when I joined here vs. my post count and see how long I have been lurking. |
I see what your wife means... :bowrofl:
|
Honestly, we cannot convince you to buy one. If you want one, you should buy one. Life is short and unexpected! Live it the way you want while you can.

She walks in the office and sees the site up and just turns around and leaves shaking her head. Doesn't help she hates the Sentra either. |
Do it! You will NOT be disappointed. Good luck with whatever you choose though.
|
If you can't bring yourself to buy a new car then you shouldn't do it. Some people just don't like spending money, even if they can afford it.
You should probably stop going back and forth with the wifey about it, though. :icon17: |
I'm going to the Mustang forum to tell them how much I want to buy one but just can't!
:) |
Uhhhh...ok, so don't get one. Who cares??
|
just go test drive one you really like and this issue will resolve itself on it's own. lol

Just PRETEND that your wife said you HAD BETTER NOT get one, and then go and get one.
See, that's what the problem is. Your wife WANTS you to get one, and you don't like your wife telling you what to do. :argue: |

I felt the same way. Save a bunch of your play money any get a small loan.
|
I thought the 2013 Nismo didnt have any (or many) of the changes that the base+ gets?
Just get the Z. YOLO (apparently thats the term all the cool kids are throwing around at the moment). |
2013s are ugly. Go test drive a 2012 and i'm sure you will be sold.
Also, how is it that affording one is not a big deal but the thought of another car note is holding you back?!? |
this is like my folding bike situation...
|
Blah Blah Blah Blah!

what's changed for 2013 Nismo?

SO...... stop thinking about it and get one already. You mentioned that you are good on cash and can afford it. Your wife is giving you the go ahead, and you have been wanting one for a while.

Oh and the 370z is MUCH better than the 350z. In almost every way.
|
Consider a clean used one - I got what I wanted when someone traded after a year and didn't need a loan :)
|
Dont do it. Something inside of you, knows you better than you know your self. You know its probably a whim buy based on desire then after having it you realize why?
|
Buy one, if you regret it afterward, give it to me, if not, then just drive it.
Problem solved. |
|
Agreed. Clean used one is your best bet if you don't want to fully commit.

Get a versa so you don't feel guilty about spending so much money. Then buy a fairlady Z emblem and stick it on the back of the versa.

May I suggest waiting a year, and saving some cash aside. If you are in the same financial position, the note will be a lower nut to carry. You also should look used IMHO to further offset depreciation. The Z is not super rare you just have to be patient and a bit flexible. Rates are not going to skyrocket in a year...good used car rates are 2-3%. Its OK to want something, and having goals and working for them are rewarding. A year ago my wife and I shopped for our used Z and picked up a loaded roadster with 2500 miles on it, saving a bit of cash. New even with 0% financing at the time would have run us 20% more. - b |
lol 1 post per year
|
im with the other guy. why finance the whole thing? save a few duckies. i can tell you this, you wont stop stressing (or lurking here lol), until you get one!

seriously man, you gotta ask yourself what you can live with.
new car and new note? or no car and no note? |
I can understand your financial problem..You want to stay debt free.
I have been a debt free man except for a mortgage, for years.. I make interest, and I don't pay interest. But since I am in poor health and my Wife just loved the 370Z, I traded the paid for 350Z for a 2009 370Z with 6000 miles on it..Still smells new. Yes, I took a small note on the car because I refused to pull money out of investments that are making twice the interest as the car note. So, I understand you not wanting any payments..You are smart and most in America are not.. But you only live once and something can happen at any time.. If your numbers crunch and it is not a hardship, but you just don't want a payment...Maybe go for it anyways.. In a New York Minute, life can change( stroke, ect...) Live life while you can , as long as the numbers crunch.. |
I know the feeling. When my 350 was paid off, the idea of another car note was not something I wanted. I lurked on here for a month or so, that was a BIG MISTAKE! or was it...
You're not gonna get one. |
Damn the first wife took your Z! unacceptable :shakes head:
