Can't bring myself to buy a Z

I bought a damn 2004 back when I was making crap money. I got divorced and moved away and ended up buying a 2005 Infiniti G35c MT because I left the Z with the ex wife.

I ended up getting re-married and I sold the G to get a Nissan Sentra in 2007 to make buying a house easier.

I now make 4 times the amount of money I did when I bought the 2004 Z, my Sentra is paid off, and I cannot bring myself to buy another car. I have wanted another Z for several years now but for some reason I can't do it. Affording it isn't an issue, it's just the thought of another car note is making me freeze whenever I start searching inventories.

I am driving the wife crazy, she wants me to shut the hell up and get one, she's been begging me for a year to finally do it and I won't.

What the hell is wrong with me? I am telling myself now I need to wait until 2013 for the changes since I really want a NISMO.

I had to vent, thanks guys.:shakes head:

Edit. You can look at my join date when I joined here vs. my post count and see how long I have been lurking.

I see what your wife means... :bowrofl:

nepali 05-01-2012 09:12 PM

Honestly, we cannot convince you to buy one. If you want one, you should buy one. Life is short and unexpected! Live it the way you want while you can.

Dude, I am driving her crazy. If I don't buy one soon she is going to end up buying it for me. She wants the NISMO or the Touring with Persimmon.

She walks in the office and sees the site up and just turns around and leaves shaking her head.

Doesn't help she hates the Sentra either.

864Zbeast 05-01-2012 09:15 PM

Do it! You will NOT be disappointed. Good luck with whatever you choose though.

m4a1mustang 05-01-2012 09:16 PM

If you can't bring yourself to buy a new car then you shouldn't do it. Some people just don't like spending money, even if they can afford it.

You should probably stop going back and forth with the wifey about it, though. :icon17:

dirtrat 05-01-2012 09:19 PM

I'm going to the Mustang forum to tell them how much I want to buy one but just can't!

:)

11Thumper 05-01-2012 09:34 PM

Uhhhh...ok, so don't get one. Who cares??

tjlazer 05-01-2012 09:41 PM

just go test drive one you really like and this issue will resolve itself on it's own. lol

+1...... :iagree: Stop being a PU**Y & grow a pair big guy. If you keep it up the wife might get one w/o you knowing, or leave you b/c you drove her insane....jk. This is not like you thought about buying a Z yesterday, but it has been a year plus already. We cannot make your mind up for you. As you stated you are making four times what you were before & you have no car payments. So you really have NOTHING TO LOSE.

DYNAZOR 05-01-2012 10:17 PM

Just PRETEND that your wife said you HAD BETTER NOT get one, and then go and get one.
See, that's what the problem is. Your wife WANTS you to get one, and you don't like your wife telling you what to do. :argue:

Baconboy 05-01-2012 10:29 PM

I felt the same way. Save a bunch of your play money any get a small loan.

Rogue01 05-01-2012 10:51 PM

I thought the 2013 Nismo didnt have any (or many) of the changes that the base+ gets?

Just get the Z. YOLO (apparently thats the term all the cool kids are throwing around at the moment).

bigdog1250 05-01-2012 11:00 PM

2013s are ugly. Go test drive a 2012 and i'm sure you will be sold.

Also, how is it that affording one is not a big deal but the thought of another car note is holding you back?!?

kenchan 05-01-2012 11:07 PM

this is like my folding bike situation...

This!!!

EazyD 05-02-2012 12:04 AM

what's changed for 2013 Nismo?

kidkotic2001 05-02-2012 12:19 AM

SO...... stop thinking about it and get one already. You mentioned that you are good on cash and can afford it. Your wife is giving you the go ahead, and you have been wanting one for a while.

Yeah come on before the wife puts the strap on & slaps you around & shows you who DADDY is. '14 is about to be out now nice you are not able to make your mind up. Trust us in that you will not be disappointed with the '12 370Z.

Vbp6US 05-02-2012 12:24 AM

Oh and the 370z is MUCH better than the 350z. In almost every way.

wilsonp 05-02-2012 01:13 AM

Consider a clean used one - I got what I wanted when someone traded after a year and didn't need a loan :)

Forrest 05-02-2012 01:16 AM

Dont do it. Something inside of you, knows you better than you know your self. You know its probably a whim buy based on desire then after having it you realize why?

alcheng 05-02-2012 01:24 AM

Buy one, if you regret it afterward, give it to me, if not, then just drive it.

Problem solved.

JARblue 05-02-2012 01:27 AM

wait for the 390z

:bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:

Vbp6US 05-02-2012 01:55 AM

Agreed. Clean used one is your best bet if you don't want to fully commit.

Get a versa so you don't feel guilty about spending so much money. Then buy a fairlady Z emblem and stick it on the back of the versa.

First kudos for attempting to be fiscally prudent. Very un-american of you. :tiphat:

May I suggest waiting a year, and saving some cash aside. If you are in the same financial position, the note will be a lower nut to carry.

You also should look used IMHO to further offset depreciation. The Z is not super rare you just have to be patient and a bit flexible. Rates are not going to skyrocket in a year...good used car rates are 2-3%.

Its OK to want something, and having goals and working for them are rewarding. A year ago my wife and I shopped for our used Z and picked up a loaded roadster with 2500 miles on it, saving a bit of cash. New even with 0% financing at the time would have run us 20% more.

Pauly 05-02-2012 06:19 AM

Better audio, brake lines, darker wheels.

I agree on the 2013's front look. If I go the non NISMO route I am probably going to get an AMUSE body kit anyway. I haven't heard yet if the front end on the 2013 is different from a fitment issue though.

The older I get the less I like spending money.

Pauly 05-02-2012 08:36 AM

seriously man, you gotta ask yourself what you can live with.
new car and new note?
or no car and no note?

Bucketlist2012 05-02-2012 08:52 AM

I can understand your financial problem..You want to stay debt free.

I have been a debt free man except for a mortgage, for years.. I make interest, and I don't pay interest.

But since I am in poor health and my Wife just loved the 370Z, I traded the paid for 350Z for a 2009 370Z with 6000 miles on it..Still smells new.

Yes, I took a small note on the car because I refused to pull money out of investments that are making twice the interest as the car note.

So, I understand you not wanting any payments..You are smart and most in America are not..

But you only live once and something can happen at any time..

If your numbers crunch and it is not a hardship, but you just don't want a payment...Maybe go for it anyways.. In a New York Minute, life can change( stroke, ect...)

Live life while you can , as long as the numbers crunch..

elmz 05-02-2012 09:41 AM

I know the feeling. When my 350 was paid off, the idea of another car note was not something I wanted. I lurked on here for a month or so, that was a BIG MISTAKE! or was it...

You're not gonna get one.

anthonyy 05-02-2012 11:45 AM

Damn the first wife took your Z! unacceptable :shakes head:
