one of the biggest reasons why i dont like suction cups for nav is the same reason. blocks view + rings left on glass.
I usually always mount it outside. Its fun to get creative with camera angles Plus it usually gives a better sense of speed.

indeed! i will be mounting it on the outside of the car too and will use the suction cups for sure.

for cabin shots shooting forward, i want part of me in the shot along with part of the side windows. i think 180degree is wat i would use in this case?

mmm… then the mirror mount will not be ideal…… cos you won't be included

I think in full 1080 the angle is slightly less than 180 but I forget. I know when i mount mine inside you can see me and even my feet working the pedals
