I think the wife is going to drive the garage queen 370Z today..

My neurologist won't let me drive until the new medication adapts to my body..

I haven't been this high in 20 years... I sure don't want to drive yet...Well I do want to drive, but I am a danger , and i probably won't remember the drive..

If you see me driving, please pull over and save yourself, and your car...

I don't know what the roads are like in Austin, but driveways can be treacherous when you are lowered.

In addition, everything - EVERYTHING - you do to your car involves some form of compromise. That compromise is usually out-weighed by the benefit of the mod, however it is a compromise to be dealt with nonetheless.

And now for some totally unsolicited (apologies up front ) advice:

It's very easy to get caught up with the mod bug. It's expensive, but fun. However, as someone who says they are trying to clear-up their debt situation (kudos to you sweetheart - become the 1% ), take a breath and relax. If you love your car as much as you say you do, it will be there for you to lavish whatever mods on it you want.

Get a little financial cushion going before changing a practically new, and perfectly functioning, car. Trust me, if you stay smart with your finances, you'll have plenty of money to do what you want.

Short term sacrifices for long term gains.

And now back to regularly scheduled programming....................................

Apologies for any feelings hurt by the filibuster.

great post, mr. gurney.

i too ive by the 'Short term sacrifices for long term gains' philosophy.
well, in my case it's not a huge gain but it's a larger landing cushion im going for. hahaha.

I have a little of this and a little of being conservative. We make decent money though and we save a great deal. It also helps to be relatively debt-free. We owe on our house still -- about 6 more years -- and that's it, but it took a long time and hard work to get here.

I say that if you want to do modifications (or buy a Canon L-series lens or four) and you have the money, then do it. I don't like having regrets about waiting to make my car something better or different. However, each person has his or her own situation and perspective on the whole money thing.

Actually, I am sad that my mods are essentially done for the 370. It is good stuff doing the research, pulling the trigger on a purchase, waiting for the UPS guy, fretting about the install, bragging a little, etc.

Now onto Juke mods, I guess.

That is indeed an interesting noton. I have a couple of guys I am sponsoring now. They claim to be my kids, but we never did get around to having that proven in a court of law.

I love the avatar. I rocked that for a while, and a lot of people were like, "wtf is that?" I got tired of explaining it

Understood, but I bet your under 30 too.

Look guys, I was wasn't trying to lecture anyone. My only point was we love our cars and there is never really a need to rush to mod it.

Like mr. onzedge said, the fun comes in the planning, hoping, and waiting for the UPS guy. I've kind of run out of things to do too. It's like Christmas Eve versus Christmas night after you've opened all your presents back when you were a kid.

I'm 54 and one of those people that saves like crazy, is totally debt-free, and still isn't sure I'll ever be able to retire. It's a bit scary actually.

Totally respectable, to each his own. Im close to being under 30, Im 32. Luckily, but thru unlucky circumstances I own my house and my Z. Also not in any other kind of debt. Im pretty much back to living paycheck to paycheck but have a lot of financial freedom. Even when I was dirt broke and in tens of thousands of $$ in credit card debt I still had the same philosophy. I dont have time to save. I TOTALLY respect people that can manage money, Im just the farthest thing from one of them.
