I have a Hero 2 and 32gb class 10 card, but Mrs.GaleForce is hiding them for a special occasion. I wonder if I can use them and repackage it without her knowing?

mr.gale- nice! lol @ sneaky... but if you take vids of you taking it out of the box and re-boxing, i think she's going to find out, i think.... :eekdance: :rofl2:

that's one of the many things im going to be using my hero2 for... timelapse camera :stirthepot: need to find who is messing with my plants! hahaha

i was looking at brinno and other timelapse cameras and though, wth, just kill 3 birds with one stone using the hero2. i like taking down birds. :stirthepot:

30fps often winds up looking 'off' if you do anything at speed.

I also do prefer the coverage angle from the 720 mode

thanks for the input, redzed. i suppose if im only going to do 30fps, i can use R2... i will have to try both R2 720/30fps and R3 720/60fps. :)

Ken just to go back to some stuff you mentioned like mounting the cam on the car. This is my rig, sort of a dif spin on Steve's setup

Now I use the mic mount off that handle apparatus, which is called the Opteka X-Grip. I bought it for like $15 or something. Great for handheld applications. So this is the mount removed

This is it mounted under the rear fog. The little fastener that holds the bumper down underneath the fog is popped out and the mount is installed there

And finally with the mic attached.

I like and dont like that the mic is battery powered. BUT I wouldnt want it running off of my GoPros power since the cameras battery already doesnt last as long as Id like. I have ran the mic for a total of at least 5 hours now and the batt is still fine. I ordered 2 extra when I got it for only a few bucks.

thanks, mr.alchemy! damn, that's a nice setup. :yum: i know now i need to get one of those handle and more brackets and stuff for sure.

i see that the snowboarders are using a small mono-pod. i was thinking about doing something like that when im making short clips. :D

I wouldn't dream of pulling a fast one over on my wife, actually she probably knows I was scheming to get the GoPro out... I'm a dead man when she gets home... she's got a sixth sense about these things. :eekdance:

Good idea using the time lapse to catch the critter. Are you going to stick it on a window inside the house looking out? I wouldn't want any drunken raccoons running off with it. :rofl2:

You had a nice month of shopping. It should be easier to save money when you have all those new toys to play with.

I also then have a 25 ft mic extension cord so I can mount the GoPro anywhere and still have the mic hooked up. I really love this setup. Trading in my old first gen Hero for the Hero 2 was a wise choice. Not only does the Hero2 offer external mic capabilities but the picture is TWICE as good if not better:tup: I have to thank Steve though as he inspired the whole project:tiphat:

That's awesome to hear, I plan on selling my 1st gen GoPro and picking up the Hero 2 and was wondering how big of an upgrade it would be. The external mic is the best thing they added in my opinion, the video quality was always good after some basic editing of saturation and contrast but the audio even with the open back left much to be desired.

Trust me when I tell you that the picture is unbelievably better:tup: To me the first gen dont even look like HD compared to this version.

:iagree: The GP2 is so much better.

Sounds good! So do you actually use the lithium battery or power the mic off the hero2? I got a cheepo mic coming to me that apparently works well. This way I can pick up more direct sound if I desire. I will try with the built-in mic first though. :)

I'm. :excited:

I use the lithium battery. You will be let down by the GoPro's mic. Even more so when its inside the case. External mic is the way to go. Esp in a car video, sound is as important as the driving is.
