Ken-san do you have a good recommendation for checking the stock temps before I install the intake and then afterwards? I don't have anything with remote sensor though. Also, when you say higher RPMs, how high? I'm hoping its slightly louder but close to stock up to about 3K RPMs, maybe 3500 - above that I don't care how loud it gets

It usually happens when I'm digging around the computer closet, but I've done the same thing myself in the garage  Its pretty loud with the garage door down, too.

JAR- you can use a scanguage or something like my nuvi ecoroute to find out wat your IAT's are via your OBD2 port. :)

high as in 5K to redline. i dont like making a lot of noise up there, i like the car to sound smooth.

I don't have the RC2, but I notice the noise depends how much the opening of the throttle, the Typhoon I am using doesn't make too much noise below 4000rpm, not much even above 4500rpm if the throttle is only 50% open

Temperature, to be honest, I wonder the CAI will make any difference since the OEM design works like a CAI already ==> outside air goes into a fully sealed chamber all the to the combustion. The plastic vs metal hose might have a bit affect.... but will it make a huge difference...

Trust me... you need this:

Sweet, I'm pretty sure my buddy has a ScanGauge that I can use. That Nuvi you've got and the mount are definitely sweet though. Excellent on the RPMs - I set the upshift indicator at 4K for my wife and she said is just about perfect. Thank you, sir. :tiphat: I'll rep your post when your rep resets.

That's good to hear, as I am also wondering how loud it will be at highway speeds on longer trips. We've got plenty of 75 mph and even some 80 mph speed limits in TX, so cruise control at 88 mph (10% rule = BACK TO THE FUTURE!!:rofl2:) in 6th gear runs upwards of 4K. Hopefully, when the throttle is not fully open in cruise it won't be as loud as say 2nd gear @ 4K pedal to the metal.

A few friends drove to the drag strip, and I finally got a rolling shot of my car!

I'm in Florida as of next Saturday but I'll be Z-less for 3 weeks, very sad :(

This is a fantastic shot!

What part of Florida are you going to be in next week TGO?

If you are cruising between 75-90mph at 6th, you are running at about 2500-3000k, I think, you won't hear any noise from the CAI.

Unless you floor the pedal, then you'll notice the difference, but the 'noise' does sound healthy

75 mph is a hair over 3K rpm in 6th I think. At 90 mph in 6th gear the upshift indicator which is set at 4K is solid red (that's also right about when my wife usually vocalizes her displeasure with my driving). However, the car is loud enough as it is at that speed that the intake should not add significantly to the noise. I can't wait to hear it. I just PM'd the guy for payment details. :tiphat:

When you are cruising at 3000rpm on the HWY, your throttle is only 20% opened, it won't make any noise. :)

Schweet! Is there an easy method to figuring out the % throttle at different cruising speeds in different gears?

Evening, madames et monsieurs. :tiphat:

Enjoying a nice cigar at Fontana Village, days ahead of zdayz.

You all have to make it a point to drive roads like these in your Z's. I am in driving Nirvana :driving:
