3.0 turbo z on the way
Infiniti apparently just filed trademarks for the G35h, G22d, and the G30t.
Could this mean a 3.0 turbo Z is on the way? Link: Car and Driver Blog Infiniti Trademarks G35h, G30t, and G22d; Hybrid Likely for 2014, Diesel and Turbo Models Possible |
good find that is definitely a possibility
|
Sweet! Now I'm gonna be searching for a turbo z from nissan like every day!
|
pretty cool find there

Yeah but that might be a fuel economy thing... there is a chance that a 3.0 turbo Z is like the 2.0 turbo Audi where the NA 3.2 is still technically their faster/better platform. Guess we will have to wait and see... wonder why they wouldn't just TT a 3.7... maybe it is a single turbo straight six?
|
rumor is that the 30T is actually a twin turbo 3.0 that will be used in infiniti's and Nissan's high performance models
|
It all depends on how much they borrow from mercedes the 22D is a mercedes engine that's already confirmed I think.
|
Oh man, if this happens, I am going to be tempted to trade-in for one and lose a bunch of money....
|
So are we looking at a reborn 300zx or will this possibly be a 300Z? Either way I think it would be bad ***. I mean I could see the ads now "the rebirth of a legend, the new 300zx!" Could be cool. Personally though I would have aimed for either a 2.9 liter or 3.2 liter. 290z and 320z have a nice ring to it and the 3.0 has already been done.
|
this could be interesting!
|
hopefully, it'll be several more years down the line so I don't feel as bad about trading in my 2011 for it (and if it's after I buy a house, I can get less flak and justify it more)
|
Well that throws out the theory which says Nissan will keep the turbo on the GTR only. I too thought this was the direction they were heading in.

300zx... well, and turbo Z... but this could also mean a new silvia as well... |
I can see all the "should I buy now or wait for the 300ZT" threads LMAO!!!!!!!
|
It would be really weird to call it a 300Z.

If this comes to the G in 2014 we will probably see it in the Z in 2015. |
Dude they are sweet cars, but would it really be worth it if you're going to mod it anyway? I mean, you're gonna upgrade the turbos anyway, by the time you're done you've spent just as much money as on your 370Z for the same-ish hp gains. If I didn't have my Z now, I would spring for a 300ZT, but I'm happy with what I have right now. Just my .02 :)

2k :( but it was a project car.. lol how many miles and what condition is your ZX in? and is it manual or auto? |

It's very nice...i want it. :icon17: http://www.the370z.com/other-vehicle...x-tt-sale.html |
also this may mean the true rebirth of the skyline (no not the GT-R) but the infiniti G37(aka skyline 370)------->becomes G30T AWD. That will be a bad a** car.

but i love me that jspec front :yum: |

man, now all I am thinking about is my 300zx in Tucson, and its poor paint, and new turbos :( i want her back
|
I'd be surprised if they reverted to the 300zx name or the 300 anything for that matter... sounds like they are regressing to me if they do that... I guess we will just have to wait and see.
We have to be at least 3-4 years away from a platform change though, especially since they just refreshed the body for 2013. Only caveat is if they do a powertrain transplant in the 370 just like they did with the HR 350. |
Also I'd like to see AWD from the factory before TT but that is just me.
|
Looks like my guesses on the Z going back to a 3.0L turbo was on Q. :)

and I don't see them going bigger then 3.7.... but who knows |
What leaves the GTR ??? I don't really see it happening ..although if it does happen ill be the first one to trade in the z lol

N/A's are slowly fading into the darkness. We are currently in the phase of manuals fading away with these insane Auto Transmissions like the Dual Clutch. Ferrari and Lamborghini have dropped the manuals for current and future cars and also Porsche PDK system is decreasing manual sales. Now manufacturers are turning to the Turbo for the MPG's and also to cheat out horsepower out of small engine. Times are changing, it used to be all about who had the big motors 3,4,5,6 liter 6,8,10,12 cyl engines but now it's all about the 2.0T and 3.0T 4-Cyl. I'm a N/A guy :)
|
Nissan may just keep the 370z name if they change the displacement. Mercedes has been going to smaller displacement engines with turbos and just left the lettering the same as before. From a marketing perspective, i doubt they will lower the number on the Z. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they did away with lettering all together and it was just called Z.
It also states the "t" has stood for "touring" in the past so i doubt there is a 3.0 turbo planned, but who knows! |

I really, really want this to be true. The day we get another factory Turbo'ed Z, I'll be there to buy it.
|
Yeah I think they would just call it the Z, which they pretty much do now. If you look on their website, they don't call it a 370Z. It's called the Z Coupe and Z Roadster.
