I'm saying it needs a coilover. Something many of us with Z's do already. WHAT??? The IPL G runs 348hp. The deficit is on the Z. Its the Z that would need a power increase on the IPL unless you buy a NISMO. Have you even driven an IPL? You are making an argument based on driving a Z and never have being in an IPL. Go drive the car I'm talking about first before you give bias and twisted info. You don't even KNOW the ipl has more HP than the Z. Last edited by UNKNOWN_370; 03-13-2012 at 10:49 AM. |

You didn't mention intake+exhaust, I did. Calm down. You are saying you have to add stuff to the IPL to get it to outperform the Z in certain areas. I am not a stat junkie so I dont have the HP numbers off the top of my head. Yes, I know the IPL has more HP than the Z and the Nismo for that matter. All I am saying is keeping things the same where is the tradeoff? How much did you pay for the IPL??? $50k +/-? I would take the money and boost the Z to gain back and surpass the deficit. Yes for the price tag you get nicer luxury features, some new fascia, plus upgraded performance to 348hp and 276 lb-ft torque. But you are right I have not driven an IPL. So what am I talking about.

I owned both G35 and 37. Somehow I missed the boat on being serious. And I'm still too young for a midlife crisis.
As far as the 08 G. THAT WAS A THROWAWAY CAR.. there are more 08 G37's in used car lots do to the huge amounts of defects and having that anemic tranny that really couldn't handle the extra hp. Most people outside of the nissan world look at the G as a car that guys, who can't afford to insure and maintain a BMW go out and buy and pretend to own a real luxury car. |

What defects do you speak off care to elaborate? My 08 with 100k miles still drives like the day I bought her.

If you want a luxury car, i suggest you to get BMW3 or C class. personally I dont think G37 more luxury than B3 or C. however, you can see a lot of g35 or 37 on the road, but wat about Z ? I think there's less Z than G37 in the entire country.

This spring we shopped a used G37 among other fun coupes. Manual cars are not easy to come by: in that regard there were similar number of Z's also available in the 250 mile radius of the North East I was looking at. Plenty of slush boxs out there which I accounts for the numbers.
The G37 is a good car, and we would have been fine driving it. But it didn't stir our souls like the Z car does, nor the car we ended up getting in this case to replace a G35x auto daily driver (a base Cayman CPO: chose it over the G and 2.0 A5). In my neck of the woods, the demographics are about the same. You see 20 something-40 somethings in both cars equally. No cliches need apply. - b |

If you choose to go into a G? Get it during the clearance sale. You can get rebated up to $7k with the right dealer. Going to a dealer that has both nissan and infiniti to make the trade helps alot. They will be willing to give you higher value for your trade while discounting you the G. Nmac financing on a G will also guarantee you the lowest price possible. The more money that stays in-house, the more you save... I had a G37s. Awesome car. I had a Jic magic flt-2 aftermarket susp which made it performed pretty much like the Z for the most part. Only issue is you feel the weight And if you can get aftermarket wheels for wider tires... 9.5f x 10.5 or 11r would help alot... I traded for the simple reason i wanted less weight and length on my car and better cornering (going in). 2 of the G's weaknesses (which can be helped with coils)
I gave up all that tech and don't miss any of it except the now defunct self healing paint. |
