You didn't mention intake+exhaust, I did. Calm down. You are saying you have to add stuff to the IPL to get it to outperform the Z in certain areas. I am not a stat junkie so I dont have the HP numbers off the top of my head. Yes, I know the IPL has more HP than the Z and the Nismo for that matter. All I am saying is keeping things the same where is the tradeoff? How much did you pay for the IPL??? $50k +/-? I would take the money and boost the Z to gain back and surpass the deficit. Yes for the price tag you get nicer luxury features, some new fascia, plus upgraded performance to 348hp and 276 lb-ft torque. But you are right I have not driven an IPL. So what am I talking about.

Look, once you buy a Z. You took yourself out of being able to compare your car to any other car with 4 seats or 4 doors. People BUYING a 4 seater do so for performace (2)+(2) practicality. The 50k ipl can be had for about 45k OTD. So its like you pay 3k more for a tour sport. But an IPL HAS FEATURES... you can only dream about in a Z because it is luxury as well. Things like 12way power true sport seats and intell cruise control, sunshade for the rear moonroof, DS mode and just of other things.
You are goiing from one type of car to another. You choose an IPL for NOT JUST sport. That's what makes your comparo's moot.
My reason for mentioning the coilover is because let's say he's buying the G because he has little ones and needs to take them in his car. In order for him not to sacrifice performance in handling I'm making the SUGGESTION to try JIC coilovers that really work well in a G? How do I know this??? I traded my 09 G37 for my previous 09 Z. Now I have an 11 Z. So I know what I'm talking about.
Why did I trade for a Z??? WEIGHT. My G performed equal if not better in handling with the coilover. But I still wanted a lighter car. The G was not my DD so I traded for a Z which also is not my DD.

See, this kind of thinking to me, I don't understand. A lot of guys say 4 seaters aren't real sports cars. So then, a GT driver driving a mustang or camaro SS can say, well then your so called 2 seater sports car isn't good enough because I just beat you around the track. Sports car IS NOT how many seats you have. Its HOW WELL a car can perform under a given set criteria. Once a car achieves or exceeds that skill seat criteria. Its nominated as a sports car.

As far as cozy in the cockpit... well that's subjective. Iagree with you there but one mans cozy is another mans cramped.

PS there are Ferari's and porsches with back seats.

Well you will be happy to know that your rants were not in vain...i now see your position and I even agree.. and bow in respect :) proving that an old dog really can learn new tricks!! :)

I have driven both the G def feels more sluggish than the Z. Z=true sports car.

i have no complaints, other than those damn blindspots lol if you truly LOVE your car which i do, the extras are not needed.

I like the new G coupes,better then the old G35's,and I had one of them,but would i trade a 350Z for a G35 no,would I trade a 370z for a G37 no.

I have had both G35 & G37S. I like the sound of the G35 more than the G37, but I like the body style of the G37 more than the G35. I believe '06 - '07 G35 had the best looking front bumper out of the G35 years.

The Z will have a little more hp & wider wheels (Nismo vs. IPL). The Z is a little bit more of a sports car. I always thought that the Z was for people in late teens or early twenties & the G was more for older/serious people. Now I see that the Z is more sportier & more of a mid life crisis toy.

You can get all the amenities in either car. It comes down to if you want a firm ride, or if you want a firmer ride (almost harsh).

I owned both G35 and 37. Somehow I missed the boat on being serious. And I'm still too young for a midlife crisis.

As far as the 08 G. THAT WAS A THROWAWAY CAR.. there are more 08 G37's in used car lots do to the huge amounts of defects and having that anemic tranny that really couldn't handle the extra hp. Most people outside of the nissan world look at the G as a car that guys, who can't afford to insure and maintain a BMW go out and buy and pretend to own a real luxury car.

G37Sam 08-28-2012 10:25 AM

What defects do you speak off care to elaborate? My 08 with 100k miles still drives like the day I bought her.

bigdog1250 08-28-2012 01:53 PM

Should have got a touring!

DJ-of-E 08-28-2012 06:32 PM

If I had to get a G37, I'd rather rock a BMW 335i.

nmjaxx9 08-28-2012 08:13 PM

i still like g37s they are sexyy as hell, but nothin like a 370z. yes bias included.:bowrofl:

obito 08-29-2012 01:42 AM

If you want a luxury car, i suggest you to get BMW3 or C class. personally I dont think G37 more luxury than B3 or C. however, you can see a lot of g35 or 37 on the road, but wat about Z ? I think there's less Z than G37 in the entire country.
