But yeah, resale on the Z is not bad at all. |
For a daily driver, only car, living in your area, the Z just isn't practical. Its gonna give you more of a headache than joy if it constantly snows up their. I don't think even a Mustang would be practical. Get something with AWD. The G37x Coupe, TT or 3 series perhaps. I can't think of other 2-door awd cars in this segment.
|
AWD isn't really necessary if you are willing to keep a set of snow tires for the winter. Both the Z and the Mustang do really well in snow with proper tires.
|
Thanks for the input. I should mention that I'll be picking up a beater to drive in the winter. Probably another 4x4 truck. I have heard good things about the new GT500. They are touting its the best Mustang ever built.

But yeah, if I knew I was going to be driving in snow alot, I'd want an AWD option with good clearance... like a Ford Raptor. :icon17: |

I'm so tempted to get a Ford Raptor, that truck is beastly! |
I want one too, but I also want a Viper. And I need a house first. :icon17:

doesn't look as sexy as a Z though. |
Well... I've had two raptors now. Bought one of the first ones in the NE. Had the 5.4 Supercrew cab. Hated the shift pattern and the Motor didn't have enough power for the truck.
Traded it for a new 6.2 crewcab. They fixed a ton of things I hated about the 2010 version. And the new 6.2 has plenty of HP. It's a great off road truck. The suspension is awesome.. But it is a 50k + truck... Are you really going to beat the crap out of it? Getting it dirty is one thing.. using it to actually work with. Probably not. It's a toy, a fun toy :) Taking it on road trips is awesome, I've taken it to FL several times. 1200 miles each way. 15 mpg :rofl2: But you're not all cramped etc.. |

Yeah, not as sexy as the Z. |
to me evo's are like any other regular car that's modded. im sure it's a blast to drive but at the end of the day it's a family sedan.

Curious where you're located in NY. My biggest concern with the Raptor is its width. Doesn't look like it would be too friendly fitting in hunting trails or anything similar lol. |
It's wide.. I don't fit in many car washes lol. It's literally 7 inches wider then a F150.
I'm in upstate, south of Syracuse. I'm actually headed to CT in a hour. |

Either way, I am going to ge tthe Z I have decided. Is it practical for where I live? absolutly not. Am I doing something mildly stupid? Definitly. DO I care if others judge me or what they think about this? **** NO!!! :ughdance: That said I only have to make it through 1 maybe 1.5 winters before I can buy a decent 4wd beater for winter driving. |
Isn't the 0-60 faster on the Z though? Even with a less powerful engine...

I don't know about 0-60 but i have easily out handled a vette and smoked an M3 with mine. Just have to learn how to drive it fast it's like a Honda if you are below 4k. Wind it up and it goes like stink and those new Yokohama neovas glue it to the pavement. I have yet to find the limit on those tires. I have not been this impressed with a car this much in a while. The brakes are the bomb on the sport as well.

Ahh Nismo is around 4.4 and Mustang Boss is around 4. So .4 second difference in 0-60, I was wrong. At least I added a question mark because I didn't know :P But I don't think .4 seconds is enough to make fun of me >< EDIT: In fact looking at standard 2010 models of the 370Z(base) and the Mustang (base) the 0-60 IS faster on the Z, see I knew I read about it somewhere. Likely you will come back and find some flaw in my reading I overlooked and make fun of me >< please be gentle if I am indeed mistaken. |

And in 0-60 terms, a lot of rag racers will tell you .4 seconds is huge. But more accurately, I agree with m4a1. The stang would be faster 0-60 under equal conditions and with equal drivers. But paper statistics matter very little. Both are great cars. Enjoy the Z. |
