Why not just follow what Nissan says (they know a thing or two about the Z, I think )? Straight from the Owner's Manual:

Quote:
During the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km),
follow these recommendations to obtain
maximum engine performance and
ensure the future reliability and economy
of your new vehicle.

Failure to follow these recommendations
may result in shortened engine
life and reduced engine performance.

. Avoid driving for long periods at constant
speed, either fast or slow. Do not run the
engine over 4,000 rpm.
. Do not accelerate at full throttle in any gear.
. Avoid quick starts.
. Avoid hard braking as much as possible.
Of course, I bet every Z that's ever been test-driven at a dealer has had the above recommendations violated...

Isn't it in their best interest to give us information that would make our cars last less time so we buy another one?

They have the technology to create and sell lightbulbs that last literally forever. But they don't...hmmmm

You should consider the lesson Willy Wonka tried to teach us with his Everlasting Gobstopper. It is simply not a sustainable business model.

The German has been doing that for years.... no? Go and buy a VW, you'll know what I mean.
