Cold air

I have been told that an engine develops more power using cold air..and I never noticed that until recently when the temps dropped into the 20s.. Maybe I am imagining things but it does seem to have more power..

Anybody have an idea of how much more HP an engine has running in 80 degree weather than when its 30?

Colder air = denser air = more oxygen. I like playing basketball at night for the same reason.

It's also the reason why it's easier to hit a home run during the day time.

At night, colder, denser air = ball can't travel as far.

As temps drop, fuel/air mixture in the engine improves, but tire grip and traction decline. As they rise, you get the opposite. Somewhere in the middle is "WEEEEEEEEHAAAAAWWWW"

Theoretically both your points makes sense, plus I always enjoyed playing basketball during the evening vs day. Just curious, is there statistical evidence of this in major league baseball?

Yeah, there are stats that back it up. For example, when they estimate "true distance" of home runs, they factor in ambient temperature.

Yep.

I've seen as much as a whopping 10 - 15% increase/decrease in power on the dyno due to temperature and humidity.

I find the z to be sloppy in cold weather and really hot weather. The best climate is like 60-70 degrees slight overcast

u think thats impressive, hop in a boosted car on a 30 degree day. i prolly make another 25+whp in my volvo in 30 degrees over 90 degrees

Is this where global warming comes from? I assume that last 90 degrees is 90 HP.
