It's almost as if this design should have been out first, and THEN the fangs

:icon18: lol i just got done off the phone with my dad (350z owner) and i was explaining this is how i felt.

pa19103 02-07-2012 11:10 PM

Meh...I don't really like it but I would like to see it in person.

I have a '11 SP. If I didn't have one and after seeing this, I would still go for the '09-'12 than this '13. I prefer the front angry catfish or fangs look; this '13 kind of softens it down and I am not in love with the placement of the DRL LEDs. The SP wheels look weird too IMO, kinda sprial looking instead of the aggressive angular look.

I voted "Don't like it." Especially they did not bump up some HP and the '12 already weights 13lbs more than '11. How much more weight will '13 add on?

I knew it. Some of the medical from Cali made its way to Japan. That is the only explanation for this design.
It really seems like they are just trying to ring the last little bit of money out of the 370z while they are cooking up a new design. I love the 370z, it is sexy just like the 240z was. If I was buying a z tomorrow, I would simply buy a used 2009 with low miles for 24,000. Throw on an oil cooler, and call it a day. There is no reason to waste thousands of dollars, months of my life spent working, for what? nothing really. Nissan let me down big time on this one.

rli2bcz 02-08-2012 02:34 AM

No shots of the ***?

zuperman 370 02-08-2012 03:34 AM

its almost like nissan took a step back in modding the exterior, the front end kind of resembles the 350z, if you notice the LED lights almost look the same as the reflector that was on the front end of the 350z, not that the 350 was a bad looking car but still.

bigsix 02-08-2012 05:15 AM

From my view, there are no improvements compared to earlier models. The styling= a less edgy look.

Cafiax 02-08-2012 05:43 AM

I dig the red calipers... :( i wish mine were red T_T

Streetlife 02-08-2012 08:45 AM

Glad i ordered my 2012 when i did. I waited for the 370z because everything i wanted in a Z was done, the redesign of the 370z is not for me.:happydance:

supunna_picta 02-08-2012 08:59 AM

The door handles look AMAZING! I am going to take a sledge hammer to my hideous 2011, then dump it in a water filled rock quarry, claim the insurance money and run out and buy the 2013.

Exactly. I do not want to rain on another's parade. The pics may not do justice.

I'm not sure about tacky, but boring yes.

the wheels, even though very similar, just look off now...too out there, too artistic...
I would say they are LESS artistic. There is less sculpture and uniqueness to them. Now they just look more like bent square tubes than an ingenious form of nature. Like a man made structure rather than a natural tree branch.

Quote:

im not even able to understand how they managed to ruin them so drastically with just such little change. as my wife put it, they look like corals now and I'm just praying i won't start seeing the previous wheels in the same fashion.
I wouldn't get so over excited about all these changes. With a little effort the 3 main things can be changed. Wheels are fairly easy to swap out. The butt plug is changeable. The front end, while more difficult due to painting etc, is also swappable.

Pics of cars NEVER look as good as real life. I'm not sure why, but they don't.

they can but i was sitting here thinking "we really don't have a good feel for the new shape of the nose to accurately judge". i should be seeing one of these in a few months, i'll try to do better :stirthepot:

younter 02-08-2012 10:07 AM

Yeah I know that's y I. Voted nissan totally messed this one up. What I'm saying though is that nissan is the type of give a power bump but not say anything till the car is released just like with the oil cooler... So in that respect my opinion might change????? Let's see what the future brings.

No, we are busy building the Juke R, we have no time for taking the Z seriously...

Ooo... that Nissan "Joke" is amazingly fugly.

LukasC 02-08-2012 10:18 AM

I dont like the front end they make it look less agressive and i do like the brake calipers and the new guage cluster. But those rays are softened and feminine imho.

I like it but I definitely want to see some more pictures. I wonder if I could open those turn signals up and black them out? I could really go for the front bumber then.

The sell 40th anniversary replacement calipers. Just add them on yours and sell the ones you have.

mantella87 02-08-2012 11:02 AM

The color is awesome, the wheels are nice but not in combination with the 370. Those are wheels I'd expect to see on a more luxury-oriented car. The current Sport Rays are aggressive looking because of their straight lines. I'm not a huge fan of the lights on the bumper or the absence of the fangs. It almost seems like Nissan was trying to retreat to the Z33's styling in that area. Red calipers are a nice touch with that particular body color. The new look of the fuel gauge doesn't really matter to me, because I never had a problem with the current one. It is still an awesome looking car though. Anxious to see the new Blue I am reading about.

kenchan 02-08-2012 11:41 AM

so it looks like nissan will sell 9 units in 2013. :icon17:

very scientific

pyrrhus17 02-08-2012 03:18 PM

As long as I can knock out the front blinkers and use them as a brake cooling duct I cool with it.:icon17: Just kidding looks cool make me feel like we all just became members of an exclusive club 370z 2009-2012

Amuse370z 02-08-2012 03:54 PM

They should take some notes from the Amuse bodykit imo.

Instead of making the car sportier, they made it more touring.

urdeliveryguy 02-08-2012 09:06 PM

I don't like the new front end, also not too crazy about the new sport wheels though im sure they will grow on me. But I love the fix on the instrument cluster.

Does anyone know what the new non-sport wheels will look like? Any pics?

Jasonle 02-08-2012 09:30 PM

I don't like the front either. I'm happy with my 09 :)

They sell a $10 sticker that will fix that instrument cluster. Or you can trade and pay an extra $50 a month in payments for a black cluster. Lmfao.

DarkJak 02-08-2012 10:36 PM

I like that the fuel gauge is black now, and the fact that the rear fog light cover now serves some function is nice.

Not too sure on the front bumper. The LED's look out of place, but at least there are lines on the bumper that kinda flow with them. I'm disappointed that Nissan didn't integrate DRL's into the headlight housings though. I find that look a lot better than having random lights popping out of the bumper.

Also, never thought I'd say this, but the new bumper makes me realize how much personality the fangs added to the car. Even though the 2013's shape is a little more aggressive, with the 350z style grille, it also manages to look blander than 09-12 Z's.

BTW, The new wheels now look a lot more like an extra swirly version of the lexus IS250's wheels

bigsix 02-08-2012 11:03 PM

Is there any reason Nissan would want to attract older buyers to this car? Like Amuse370z said, they've changed the looks to appeal to a different group...

LONDON2012 02-08-2012 11:38 PM

It took 24 hours, but it has grown on me. I would want the base though. Not a fan of the new wheels and red calipers. I think it might look pretty good in the gun metallic color.
