Motordyne 370z (((SHOCK WAVE))) Exhaust REVIEW
Finally I got the Motordyne 370z exhaust.
I do have a few pictures I’ll share and a few clips as well. So far the car has the ART pipes and the exhaust installed that will be included in the video that I will show. The install is easy, basic tools and basally connect all the parts together. The only thing I had difficulties was installing the tips, I just got to have them completely centered, so you might need a second pair of eyes to help guide your install of the tips and the exhaust as well. Now I’m only comparing the exhaust too stock….. Cold Start: It is laud, you can feel the when inside of the car and the tone changes when the car warms up. The exhaust is aggressive but drivable for those who daily drive Z’s. The only thing that I would warn anyone that installs this Shockwave exhaust is, as soon as you punch it, it will SCREAM!!!! Very aggressive and the tone is crisp and clear…..No rasp and especially no drone….well a little drone in lower RPM’s.. When driving the car, on daily driving, the car seems almost as stock, meaning no vibrations, nothing harsh for the ears and very livable to drive with. When getting on the freeway, you can tell the change of the exhaust tone and feel, when shifting the gears, the tone towards the transition is clear and sound is very addicting you constantly want to step on it all the time… I have not driven the car to the track yet or done canyon runs as of yet, this is me driving it day to day running errands, going to school and going to work. The exhaust itself is built high quality and looks amazing, I can compare it to the high end JDM exhaust out there. The welds are rainbow colored and looks amazing…. So far, I think the exhaust is great, way better over sock and peddle feel is a lot different as well, you will notice that right off the back, not sure because I removed the cats, but having the M370 manifold, art pipes and complete exhaust, the peddle feel is a lot different, can’t necessarily describe it to you guys but feels a lot responsive. Tony@Motordyne, has been great to help me on the install, and has answered all my questions in regards to the parts available for the 370z and his customer service has always been great. I will do more reviews in regards to the exhaust, will do DYNO runs to see where the car is at, will run some track sessions and runs some Southern California canyons…. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/71763019@N03/6820181185/" title="IMG_1902 by thaisnake2011, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7154/6820181185_fe1b477df8_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="IMG_1902"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/71763019@N03/6820181607/" title="IMG_1916 by thaisnake2011, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7165/6820181607_618f1d9aca_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="IMG_1916"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/71763019@N03/6820181949/" title="IMG_1918 by thaisnake2011, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7173/6820181949_7b2d6c02f7_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_1918"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/71763019@N03/6820182373/" title="IMG_1922 by thaisnake2011, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/6820182373_fcea475d46_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_1922"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/71763019@N03/6820182741/" title="IMG_1927 by thaisnake2011, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7012/6820182741_b7ff803dc2_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_1927"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/71763019@N03/6820183125/" title="IMG_1928 by thaisnake2011, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7034/6820183125_f6077c36ed_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_1928"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/71763019@N03/6820183585/" title="IMG_1929 by thaisnake2011, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7009/6820183585_f2af067f5e_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_1929"></a> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/71763019@N03/6820183923/" title="IMG_1930 by thaisnake2011, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7165/6820183923_c75404aff1_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="IMG_1930"></a> Here is a video on how the Exhaust looks...... COLD START... Here is another video on the car just warming up....... I hope you guys have enjoyed, I will update you guys with how things are running with the Motordyne products on my Z........ BTW....Sorry for the videos, my garage is a complete ZOO!!!:excited: |
It definitely sounds ..different. Based on the one video, does it have a single resonator before the rear sections? What size might that be? So is it a Dual exhaust, or like the stock is it a 2 into 1 into 2?
One would think the resonator cans on both the ART pipes and the exhaust cans might be a bit of overkill... :icon17: Can't wait to hear it on a dyno or some launch/fly by's. :tiphat: |
I'm pretty sure I'll be getting this exhaust now. Looks great and glad its not too loud for a daily driver.
Too bad you couldn't do befor and after dyno pulls comparing over stock. Tony, can we further customize the resonators to have blue/gold rings to compliment the burnt Ti tips? |
I love your setup bud! Can we have the tip to be customized?
|
Yeah this exhaust may be my next purchase. Nice write up.
|
+rep ill call them Monday for mine. When are you going to do dynos?
|
looks incredible on the car! give 'er a bit more RPM's next you take a vid :D
|
Didn't know this was out yet! Any drive by clips? Had this on my 350 and loved it. Can you pm me what it cost? Curious..
|
its on MD's new site... http://www.motordyneusa.com/index.ph...id=7&Itemid=54
|
Maybe it won't show up on my phone because I see everything but the shockwave for the 370??

This is my friends April G37S with the Shockwave Exhaust……It has the stock cats on…. Now to answer some questions, yes it’s the Enthusiast Edition. There is also a track version of the exhaust. I did get 3 different tips and it’s all customizable. 2 rolled up tips including the Burnt tip, also the straight lips for daily driving. Not sure when I will do a dyno run….soon I hope. I will be doing more videos for you guys to hear and more pictures as well. I have done previous dyno runs, I will try to find the info I have and post it up for when the car was bone stock. |
How loud is it?
I'm hoping its more Greddy Ti-C loud than HKS Hi-Power loud. |
Looks and sounds amazing. Def thinking this is the exhaust for me!
|
That is a beautiful piece of engineering, that looks like one of the few exhausts I'd consider besides my FI exhaust. Great review!
|
I'm considering this exhaust now...
Someone get a sound clip under full load with a driveby! |
Soon as Tony releases this for G37 I am all over it ... Hurry up Tony ....
|
Wow, this sounds good. It quiets down after warming up from the cold start.
Thanks for the detailed review in videos |
can you take some pics of the ground clearance? in the rear and the middle of the car if you can?
Thx! |
Too loud for my tastes. I'd rather my car sound like a 332hp car then a 700hp car and not be able to back it up. Having the option of what style tip is pretty nice though. Kudos for that.
|
Sounds like it could eat children...
i like that... |
like a STI sound almost on cold start....
|
in for dyno results, was thinking of waiting for this back before I got my FI TDX, but couldn't wait and got the FI one. This looks great though. Congrats to Motordyne on a fine product and you guys who are getting it. POST DYNOS!
|
Dynos would be great as well as some clear shot of ground clearance. That's the only thing holding me back from the FI TDX
|
I have pretty god clearance with my FI exhaust. The newer ones are designed with more clearance than the original ones. I haven't had any problems. These Motordyne ones look even higher with that (resonator?) chamber in that position netx tot he pipe.
|
hey can you take pictures of the exhaust 10-15 feet behind the car. Also, can the rear of the exhaust be lowered for more clearance for cars that have an add-on diffuser?
|
Any chance on a drive by and in cabin videos? I'm trying to figure out if this exhaust is really as loud as the videos depict them to be, or if they're more mellow and manageable. Especially in the cabin.

Price is mentioned on the second post. |
Wheres the OP?
What size tips do you have installed? |
Come's with 4.5" and the 5" Burnt tips
|
|
Needs some 12" resonators to tone down that high pitched stuff a bit but looks beautiful.
