Anyway, so what are the rules then if you do have a 2nd car, when and when do you not drive the Z?? If I am to keep my current car for my "DD", then I will have to re-appraise the financial situation *tweet* |
I have a 98 Frontier with over 200K miles. I've had it for four years. No issues with it. But I only live 3 miles from work/ That's a plus. My lifemate (lol) and I just picked up a Toyoto FL though.
|
My Z is for nice days in the summer, my DD is a overly bland 2005 Pontic G6 GT. My wife has a 2006 HHR with a 3" drop. Looks cool as hell but it's still a Chevy.

Z is my DD right now. Few locations are better permitting than Northern California for this.
|
Here in Iowa, my Z gets stored for the winter. I have my wifes car (2005 Altima 3.5 SE) and a 2001 Dodge grand caravan to drive when the streets are all covered with crap.
|
2008 jeep wrangler for when conditions are less than ideal.
|
My Z is a weekend car, however its in storage at the moment. I DD a 03 Toyota Tacoma. Only has 67k miles
|
2008 Jeep Liberty for my DD.
|
sometimes i wish i only had one car, the z is my weekender, and my evo/mini/si/f250 is for only things i guess ... oh and my zx636/zx 6r/ wr 250r for bypassing traffic
I guess im the shawn kemp of vehicles i keep collecting more and more ;) |
|
i have a company vehicle, an F-150. i think i wouldnt mind daily driving the Z, but it wouldnt be nearly as clean as it is today!

:iagree: My Z is also my DD, thanks to Northern Cali weather. I sold my 99 civic and 89 gt 5.0 right after I bought the Z. |
Whats the weather like in North California?
I have an 04 R6. Definitely thinking about a second car, but right now the Z is great as a DD.

Very car friendly most of the year. Only negatives are the heat in the summer and rain (although not so bad this time around) in the winter. |
Plus I don't really like the thought of driving something else...

Rx7 fd 380whp ,f150 ...

I drive my Z all through the winter now, even here in the Northeast US. I have snow tires on it (Blizzaks) and it's better than FWD cars with all-seasons on. I did get a door ding recently, but that can happen any time of the year. I got a couple rock chips in the paint, but that can happen any time of the year. However, if you only drive it on weekends, less time driving = less wear & tear over time = less fun, IMO.
|
2008 Subaru Sti and a 1996 Volvo 850 turbo wagon. I actually enjoy driving the wagon more in the winter.
|
Dont foget to get a bike too. Bike is great to take to the gym. After you workout and u ride on a nice day........what a great feeling.
|
My second vehicle is a 1999 Toyota Sienna (minivan). I only drive my Z when the roads are sufficiently dry and the salt appears to have disappeard.

A 2007 Audi S4. Drives better in the snow than the Z and has a backseat! Still get to row through the gears though... keeps me happy until the salt trucks go away for summer.
|
Those Datsun's are what started my love affair for the Z cars... Nice ride Mr.Onzedge!

i made the mistake of selling my dd when i had my first z just so i could buy more performance parts for it. The results were i ran that car into the ground. One yr i put 22k on it. Now ima play it smart and drive this one only when i go out or wana have fun. So i still have a dd for work and my 1198 for even more fun.
|
Do bikes count? I have a couple of those.
08 gsxr 600 06 klx110 my significant other has a 2011 dodge ram sport and 2- 2009 r6s and a Honda crf 450. None of the bikes are street legal though. Lol |
Yes, I have a 2nd car for Winter, too.
In fact, we Z owners NEED a 2nd car, in case that Screwing Lock Failure happen. |

If you can afford the extra cost of added insurance, gas, maintenance.. etc.. I wouldn't be so quick to dump the Focus.. The more u use ur Z the more maintenance yr going to need.. (r u ready for new tires yet ;) they go quick if you use as a DD..
I use a Ford Explorer for my chores (Shopping & dragging family around) Camery as a DD & my Z when I need to be alone on the open road...:driving: & maintenance on all 3 is fairly low because I don't beat any one car too much.. :tiphat: |
