Does that date go along with the build date of the steering lock as well?

My Z has a build date of July 09 but the label on my RevC lock has a date of Sept 09..

There were a few built outside that range, but these are the 1000 for North America (US).

(sorry to thread-jack)
Crap. Mine is built in January..

The 40ths were all built within 3 months. The other cars aren't like that and were built for the entire year. Are you looking for a breakdown of how many like that were built each month? Or did you want to know when your car was built?

I was wanting to know when my specific car was built. But you can tell that from the vin number anyways right?

If you give me your VIN, I can tell you when it was built. But, no, you generally cannot decode from the VIN when it was built, only the model year. You could make an educated guess based on the last few digits though.

hey z_girl, since you have a 2012 would you do us a favor and take a look under your steering column to see if your car has this unit? you or your guy friend or whoever.

you would have to stick you head completely under the steering column/dash area to see this. TIA!

A guy friend?... lol j/k

I went out and checked just for you and - no unit. I think it was onzedge who made a comment a few days ago confirming 2012 doesn't have the steering lock when he had his issues, they were trying swap his out and couldn't cause it was '12 they had on the lot.

Hope that helps!

Awesome, +Rep for checking. Yeah, onzedge was told by his dealer that the '12's did not have the steering lock unit.

Unfortunately, however, this also means we can no longer be friends as I think it's extremely unfair that my local dealer (not the place where I bought the car) is the edifical (not a real word beeteedubs) embodiment of Judas Iscariot mixed with Kesha - and I'm pretty sure when my steering lock goes, they'll probably just tape a bag of tootsie rolls onto my steering wheel, claim that it's fixed, and charge me my first born for the so-called repair.
