Class action lawsuit is not a bad idea. My friend was saying his 135i, because those cars have so many problems, they did a class action lawsuit and so BMW had to extend warranty on the turbos and fuel pumps to 100K miles. If Nissan doesn't do a recall, it wouldn't be a bad idea if we go this route too...

Woo, please check Rev number on your steering lock. Also, mark it with a scratch or pen to ensure dealer swaps. GL! Please update thechids thread for logging purpose.

Back from the dealer. I never even thought about marking the lock or looking at the rev. Since it died in a parking lot I didnt have tools. Had it just not started at home I would have drove my truck and played with this a bit more later. Oh well. I will update the other thread and I will post updates. I am also having them look at the hatch problem since they have the car. That has been going on for a while and I really didnt care but since it is there...why not.

If I may ask what is your build date. Mine is July or August 2010. I hope I am free from this but who knows. You have a 2010 so I have to ask. Thanks if you reply.

I never got the build date for it. I bought it Memorial Day weekend of 2010 so it should be before yours.

Thanks!

Just trying to figure out a rough percentage of failure... at least out of those who have posted here. Of course we'll never know the true numbers, but this gives us an idea.

Don't think a recall or small class action would be valid or even justifiable. I went to Search for a Complaint | Safercar.gov | NHTSA

and took at number of complaints for 2009 / 2010/ 2011 370z for this particular steering lock issue and there are only '3' complaints.

From what I have read, large number of complaints to NHTSA could initiate some action, but not w/ only 3 complaints formally issued.
