What did you do with your Z today II

Just tried to remove the OEM shiftknob. Wouldn't budge. I'm going to have to try it in the morning with someone else to help me. How easy is it to

I'm going to have to try it in the morning with someone else to help me. How easy is it to screw up the linkage if you arent holding under the boot properly(and what exactly would the results be)?
