Mustang envy does this happen often to you

I know we have a few Mustang fans on here so this is not directed at you.
Yesterday on my way in to town to get my FMV mirror from OnStar installed
at the local Best Buy. This guy pulled up beside me in his Mustang it looked like a newer 5.0 GT. And started to jack around with me. I waved over to him
to show respect because he did have a cool looking car. But i had no intention to race him since we were on a public highway. And the more i ignored him the more pissed off he got. This went on back and forth for about
2 or 3 miles when finally he gave me the Bird and gunned it and drove off.

and left me thinking to myself what a xucking jerk. am i off base here or missing something?

halogodx 01-01-2012 07:25 PM

Hes jealous that his mustang still can't get him laid like the Z can. So he tried to justify purchasing a mustang by trying to race you.

bjblackout 01-01-2012 07:26 PM

I agree totally with what you did. Why street race?? Only bad things could happen from this. Wreck, ticket, and to prove what?? I commend you!!

Jamaica 01-01-2012 07:29 PM

Mustangs are nice. But are a dime a dozen. The Z to me in my opinion i rarely see on the streets.

Waiz 01-01-2012 07:48 PM

I really like the new Mustang, like any car it has it's good drivers and bad.

You can't generalize all Mustang drivers as douche's, the few that I know are car guys just like the rest of us!

Haha yeah aka ricers, I get it too, its pretty common, but to the OP I wouldn't sweat it, you did the right thing, just have to ignore those kind of drivers and go about your way.

IDZRVIT 01-01-2012 08:06 PM

Yeah, Camaro and Challenger guys are gentlemen and wouldn't harass Z guys.

None harass me in my Z...neither did the 427 Rousche I saw the other day.

TerribleONE 01-01-2012 10:12 PM

Cant wait till one pulls up next to me when I have my TT installed.

Nismo89 01-01-2012 10:54 PM

havent had exactly a mustang do it, ive had the local civic gang roll up on both sides of me and rev their engines, to the point where i thought those hamsters were gonna die, and ive had people both young and old, stop and stare, stare while walking and run into something and look around like nothing happened and ive had the local lowered so call "balls to the wall" truck gang with their hydrolics shoot me sly devil glances i a drove her through town.

Apoc370z 01-01-2012 11:08 PM

the only people that harass my Z are the cops :shakes head:

UNKNOWN_370 01-01-2012 11:19 PM

I had 4 mustang incidents this week, one being today, then yesterday and the day before. The last one was on Monday and have had almost two dozen total in 3.5 months. Its annoying. They can't drive for sh1t and substitute brute power as a false representation of any real driving skill on the road. Its pretty patheric, but whatever.

Strangler 01-01-2012 11:41 PM

Why would he get mad if you're driving normally on the road? Your story doesn't add up.

:iagree:

And if you need a car to get you laid you fail at life.

I could go on and on about Z's that harass me on the road... but there's no point because it's not the car's fault... it's the driver. M3, Evo, STi, Vette, another Mustang... whatever.

A quote of mine from a couple years ago (when I still had my 370Z) that deserves repeating:

Is it fvcked up that I've actually been daydreaming about that "project car" all day now? :icon17:

I def think it will need a gun turret of some kind and instead of back glass, plate steel with a + cutout in the center.

It must be done. And we have to start out with midnight purple... gotta keep it classy underneath all of that armor plating. :rofl2:

Since you're pretty good at generalizations, you should put together a list of typical behaviors of drivers of different cars. Lets start with:

370Z
350Z
Camaro
Mustang
C5 Corvette
C6 Corvette
Buick LeSabre
G35
G37
Mercedes C Class
Mercedes E Class
Mercedes S Class
Maxima SV Sport
F150
Ram
Silverado
Each individual variant of the Porsche 911 (available for MY 2011)
Fisker Karma
Elise
Exige
Lincoln Town Car
1948 Tucker Sedan

I look forward to your thoughts.

I know exactly where you're coming from but the fact still remains the car attracts a certain type of driver with a c*ck measuring complex. Truth be told, camaros and challengers G37 and genesis coupe hardly ever play that. Rx8, wrx or miata owners. Nor the classic JDM's like supra older Z's and Rx7's.
You have mustang, bimmer, civic, evo, scion, charger, accord-camry v6 owners all stereotypically act the same way. Not saying every driver of these cars react to us passing or us being in there vicinity, but one out of 3 times one of these brands will hit the dbag tactics on the road. It is what it is- an observation.

How can you even begin to make an assessment like that? Where is the logic?

I definitely expect these kinds of replies from you, but I always find myself wondering how anyone can really come up with stuff like this and say it with a straight face. If you are going to make generalizations and accusations like this you need to back them up with facts, otherwise you're just pulling some idiotic idea out of your ass.

370Z- american and german car converts due to preliminary high praise reviews.
350Z- jdm fanatics
Camaro- people who still live in the 60's and transformer heads.
Mustang- mixed bag of enthusiasts and wannabe dbags.
C5 Corvette- competitive on tracks
C6 Corvette- enthusiasts
Buick LeSabre- Sunday drivers 7 days a weekd.
G35-jdm fanatics
G37- wannabes
Mercedes C Class- bad drivers
Mercedes E Class-worse drivers
Mercedes S Class- complete douche bags
Maxima SV Sport- wanted a G but didn't want to spend the extra cash. The type of drivers that could've bought an altima 2.5sl instead because they truly don't need the VQ power.
F150- they think they own the road.
Ram- normal dudes.
Silverado- bad drivers
Each individual variant of the Porsche 911 (available for MY 2011)
Fisker Karma- eco nuts with small penises
Elise- not sure.
Exige- track nuts
Lincoln Town Car- 80 year olds that are a danger on the road or nyc livery cabs.
1948 Tucker Sedan- future lowrider

I look forward to your thoughts.

I added to your list above.

Slow ya roll mustang. The proof is in driving everyday and who's making the aggressive gestures and who isn't. In my neck of the woods, these are the car models that can drive next to me without feeling complexed enough to rev on me. Do fly by's. Ride next to me and look at me in my car. Not tailgate me everywhere I ride. The cars I listed are the ones that will make some kind of negative gesture. That's all the fact I need.

Now AGAIN. I'm not saying every single guy in a bimmer or stang does it. But majority rules when these acts do happen??? Who's in my rear view, on my side trying to look in my window for an invite or doing cut off fly-bys??? Its the above mentioned car models... It is what it is.

m4a1mustang 01-02-2012 01:19 AM

I'll give it to you that we all make generalizations... rationally or not. And most of the time they are driven by conscious or subconscious biases.

I will say that I get harassed by 350Zs a lot... but I try to avoid generalizing the car and its drivers because it's a lot like blaming a deadly shooting on the gun. Did the gun kill the victim? No, the criminal that shot the gun did... And whether some young douchebag with enough money to buy a used sports car chooses to be a douche in a Z or a Mustang is really up to chance.

The fact is I encounter douchebag drivers on a daily basis, and sometimes they are in a Z, sometimes a Mustang, BMW, etc... but a douchebag is a douchebag and it doesn't matter what car they drive. If a douchebag Mustang driver traded his car in on a Z that's not going to change how he drives... however it might change how he is perceived by his own kind... just sayin'. ;)

m4a1mustang 01-02-2012 01:23 AM

Oh, and I gave a 370Z driver a thumbs up once and he flipped me the bird. Not the car's fault some idiot decided to buy it and parade his douchey *** around town in it all day. :p
