You are in MD? That's wassup..........

to no-one in particular:

So with the addition of the oil coolers and cooler weather, it seems that everything is working well (maybe too well). Guess we will see how it goes during the summer. I'm sure TX will be awesomely hot like normal............

It's fine... but you could go up to 3,000 RPM when cold and be OK.

let's go bog our engines while cold. :ugh2: you drive a AT or something? :icon17:

just drive it normally. i rev 1st gear lightly up to 3.5k as usual but dont mash the pedal. the bigger issue is how much load you're forcing the engine to push while cold i thinks. :D

I wouldn't call the 2k range "bogging."

NOTE:
Various people have recommended to me over the years to never rev the engine over 2k RPM until the oil warms up. I now know why. Oil pressures will top 100psi when the oil is cold. By the time the oil hits 180F, it's less viscous and flows more easily...you'll have lower oil pressures. No wonder why some guys probably blew their oil cooler lines!

In the winter, if your cooler isn't letting the engine warm up, you need to fab a blocking plate to cover enough of the core to let the engine get to operating temp.

yah, but this is a car sold to the general public for general street use. if one puts misc parts tampering with the stock setting i am sure things can break. :)

i dont foresee myself driving under 2k rpm on street just to warm up the oil.
i drive normally and once temps are above 150F range i gradually open her up. :yum:

You also use charburger grease in lieu of engine and gear oil, so we can expect your car to run forever regardless of how you drive. :tiphat:

hummmm...i think you're onto something. :icon17:

370Z manual states to let the car run for 30 seconds before driving. This is basically the equivalent of watching the RPMs drop slowly when you cold-start in the morning. I do this in the summer, too.

OK, how about this: you have a long stretch of steep downhill in front of you. It's winding and takes you down a small mountain road into town. Traffic is going at 40 mph. Do you: keep it in 5th or 6th and use the brakes, OR, put it in 3rd and engine brake all the way down?

I use the brakes. They get replaced often anyways.

I only live a few minutes from where I work. I start my car about 10min before I head out the door. ... Sometimes 30min depending how f'ing cold it is outside. I like my cabin warm when I jump in. :)

I drop it into 3-4 depending on how fast I am going, but that habit may have to change once I see how things go with boost, lol.

i would use 4th and some brakes or 3rd. depends on the grade and traffic. :)
